The Hogs fought hard, but they came up short against the Aggies this Saturday in Fayetteville. Arkansas gave it all they had for the entire game. The largest score gap of the game was only 14 points which came after an insane 7-yard pass from Manziel to Mike Evans in the second quarter. Arkansas quickly closed the gap before halftime with a touchdown and a field goal which made the score 24-20 at the half. From that point on the Hogs had an impressive performance against the Aggies. Arkansas had the ball down by one touchdown or less three times in the second half. The Aggie defense held strong, and they showed amazing improvement. Deshazor Everett even intercepted the ball and they also forced two three-and-outs. Johnny Manziel was brilliant, as expected. He completed 23-of-30 passes for 261 yards, and rushed for 59 more. Head coach Kevin Sumlin said that all they asked of Manziel was to make plays and he did just that. He stated, “He took care of the ball. We were able to run it and be patient.” Beth Hall Wide receiver Mike Evans also played a great game. He had six catches for 116-yards and two touchdowns. He put his body through it all during this game. The highlight being when Manziel lobbed a 7-yard pass into a huge cluster of Hogs and Aggies and Evans secured the ball for a touchdown. All in all the Aggies played a great game to secure their first SEC win. Manziel scrambled and passed in his usual fashion which helped the Aggies greatly. Their defense didn’t just hold the Hogs, but forced three-and-outs as well as an interception. Texas A&M show consistently that they improve with every game. Each week we see them grow and work together to get to the top of the conference. They have played hard each game and always deliver. Thankfully the Aggies get a week off, and then they’re off to face Ole Miss on their own turf in Oxford on October 12.
