Louisiana Senator Helps LSU Fan Do Keg Stand (Photo)

The LSU Tigers may have lost to unranked Mississippi State on Saturday, but that doesn’t mean their fans couldn’t still have some good moments. Louisiana Senator Mary Landrieu went to a few tailgates on game day, and even helped out a fan with a keg stand. Election is soon coming in November, so Landrieu most likely to trying to get closer to her young constituents. [h/t Sports Illustrated]

Loss to Miss St. yields QB questions for LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) In LSU's worst game of this young season, reserve quarterback Brandon Harris looked better than ever in the little playing time he had. The freshman's stirring performance in the dying minutes of a humbling 34-29 loss to Mississippi State begged the question of what might have been if the young quarterback with the big arm had more snaps. And with the...

More on LSU’s Start and Understanding FCS Games

This isn’t the main thing I’m going to write about, but I heard it after I published my blog about the LSU-Wisconsin game. Since Les Miles took over at LSU, the Tigers are 22-21 when trailing in the fourth quarter, the only team in the FBS to have a winning record during that span (apparently, they don’t count the last-second loss to Clemson as “trailing in the fourth quarter”...

Week 3 Top 25 + LSU/MSU Notes

I’ll get my few comments about the LSU/Mississippi St. series out of the way. If you haven’t yet, please check out my Rivalry post about the series, which despite being played annually (in fact, it is LSU’s most-played series) has not resulted in a win for the Bulldogs since 1999. Even in the bad LSU years that preceded that game (such as the 2-9 team in 1992), the Tigers...

Les Miles Says He’s Been Around Three Heisman Candidates, Including Leonard Fournette

Nobody’s 100 percent sure about what LSU head football coach Les Miles thinks about star freshman running back Leonard Fournette. One week, Miles will compare him to NBA Hall of Famer Michael Jordan. A few weeks later, Miles will say that there’s no reason for Fournette to think about winning the Heisman Trophy, and that people have “unrealistic expectations” about the freshman...

Les Miles On Leonard Fournette’s Heisman Pose: ‘Maybe He’s A Little Full Of Himself’

Leonard Fournette appeared to announce his Heisman candidacy Saturday evening. The LSU freshman running back, after scoring a four-yard touchdown–the first of his career–against Sam Houston State, celebrated with a Heisman pose.  It seemed a bit premature. Fournette, after all, is a player who has played two college games, totaling 110 yards and one score. The former top recruit’s...

A Day After: LSU vs. Sam Houston State

Against an overmatched FCS opponent, you expect perfection. That’s basically what LSU gave us tonight in all phases. — Cameron Roberson (@LSUbeat) September 7, 2014 A no-doubter. This was a game that LSU came out and did exactly what they wanted to do, but few actually expected them to do. LSU came out and hung 50+ points and nearly 600 yards of offense on an overmatched (but...

WATCH: LSU's Fournette strikes Heisman pose after first TD

Well, this won’t make Les Miles happy. LSU star freshman running back Leonard Fournette scored the first touchdown of his collegiate career today, a four-yard run against Sam Houston State. This came right after Fournette ripped off a 40-yard run, the longest of his career. After scoring the TD, Fournette celebrated in a familiar way: by busting out the Heisman Trophy pose. After...

LSU star freshman Fournette scores first TD, strikes Heisman pose

When Leonard Fournette's collegiate debut against a ranked Wisconsin defense fell short of spectacular last weekend, the questions immediately came pouring in concerning his hype. After all, his own coach, LSU's Les Miles, compared the No. 1 recruit in the 2014 class to none other than Michael Jordan before his first college snap. Well, Fournette isn't exactly backing...

Les Miles Says There Is “Good Likelihood” That Leonard Fournette Will Wear No. 18 At LSU

Every year, an LSU player is voted to wear the number 18 for the season, which has become one of the program’s highest honors after Matt Mauck wore the number during the Tigers’ run to the 2003 national championship. This year, the number is on the back of senior running back Terrence Magee. In the future, don’t be surprised if another current LSU running back is chosen to...
