Today is D Day for Lance Armstrong. Decision day. Does he tell the truth to Oprah, or continue to drag out the lie that has consumed him for the last 10-plus years? This will make news, whatever he says because of who he is as well as the person doing the interview. I encourage you to ignore it.The interview is scheduled for today at his "compound" in Houston. So, Armstrong is controlling the setting. Although he has told her that he will answer all questions candidly, with reports of his legal team assembling at his house, how honest can he be? Will there be threats of lawsuits from sponsors if he comes clean? What about lawsuits from fellow cyclists? Are they preparing for the fallout, or ways to prevent it?Frankly, I don't care. This is just another glory hound being interviewed by another glory hound. The fact that Armstrong chose Oprah, not someone I would consider an investigative journalist by any measure, speaks volumes about where he thinks this interview will lead. She's in the entertainment industry. The last time she was relevant on the interview circuit was when Tom Cruise was jumping all over her couch professing his love for Katie Holmes. Too bad Katie didn't reciprocate, right? If Armstrong wanted to be taken seriously, he would have asked a proper journalist to interview him, like one of the many that have done so over the years. Keep in mind, Armstrong's arrogance was in full display in November when he posted a picture to twitter of him relaxing in a room surrounded by his Tour de France yellow jerseys. I would be surprised if he has humbled himself since November. Lance Armstrong: Alone with his successMaybe Armstrong is ready to come clean, and relieve his conscience. After all, his cheating has been detailed extensively. Whatever he tells Oprah isn't going to come as a shock, unless he says he never cheated. Then we will all collectively roll our eyes and say "whatever, Lance."
