In 1964, some Sports Illustrated editor Andre Laguerre came up with an idea to fill the normally slow winter months. Little did he know that 48 years later, his idea would annually be the most talked about issue of his magazine.

The 2012 swimsuit edition was released this week with model Kate Upton gracefully gracing the cover. And my goodness does it rank up there with the hottest SI swimsuit edition covers of all time. We start with Upton and go backwards. We'll let you choose which years were better than the rest...
