Dave Chappelle’s comedy comeback tour is off to a rough start. Less than a week after launching his first stand-up tour since he dropped off the face of the earth in 2005, Chappelle abandoned a performance in Hartford, Connecticut last night as a result of being heckled by some fans.
After performing for about 10 minutes at the Comcast Theatre in Hartford last night, Chappelle grew tired of a handful of fans shouting during his act. He abandoned his routine, pulled up a stool, started smoking and idly chatting with fans in the front row until he had reached his contractual obligation of 25 minutes on stage.
At that point, he addressed the crowd and said “I like some of you, I hate some of you. I forgive some of you, but I don’t forgive all of you” before walking off stage to Kanye’s “New Slaves” – a sequence you can see in the video above recorded by a spectator.
It’s been awhile since Dave has been on stage and maybe his skin has grown a little thinner. Either way, it sucks that a few people ruined the show for everyone else last night.
