Posted to Whats Going On In Chicago?Hyde Park artist, Ben Shepard thinks Kanye West would be the perfect candidate to run against current Chicago Mayor, Rahm Emanuel. Shepard believes in Kanye so much, that he launched kanye4mayor.org as a way to convince Kanye to run, and for the people of Chicago to rally around Kanye to become mayor. One of the quotes from the website reads, “Because Chicago is headed in the wrong direction and Mayor West could lead a movement to make it the best city in the world. “ Shepard had a few other reasons why Kanye would make a good mayor. “He was a producer before he became a rapper, and that requires a strong ability to collaborate,” Shepard said. “I think he would be willing to hear people out, to bring people from around the city in to offer their ideas. I like the volatility of West,” Shepard said of the entertainer’s much-publicized outbursts, such as when he said President George W. Bush “doesn’t care about black people” during a televised fundraiser in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. If you look to the 19th century, there’s a tradition of politicians who were much more emotional,” Shepard said. “Sure, he’s crazy and unpredictable, but he would also look out for the concerns of poor people in the city better than the current administration.” First off, just because Kanye “spoke out” about George Bush, and is a producer, doesn’t by any means show that Kanye knows what it takes to run the third biggest city in the United States. Kanye would get **** on if he ran against Emanuel. What are your thoughts on Kanye being Mayor of Chicago?
