Coming to theaters on March 1st is Bryan Singer’s (X-Men, X2) newest movie ‘Jack the Giant Slayer’ starring Nicholas Hoult and Ewan McGregor. The film will be based on the children’s story of Jack and the Bean Stalk and encompass an all out war between the giants who live in the sky and the humans who live below them. Leading the charge to rescue the recently kidnapped princess will be the volunteer hero, Jack.
This movie falls under the grouping of recent movie titles that have tackled classic childhood tales. Movies like ‘Red Riding Hood’, ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’, ‘Mirror Mirror’, and ‘Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters’ have all provided us with dark adaptions that aim to rejuvenate an old story. But overall have they really been effective revamped storylines?
