In last night’s loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Blackhawks center Reese Johnson left the game with an apparent injury. The bad news came today that the Blackhawks will send Reese Johnson to IR with a broken clavicle.

Johnson appeared in 18 games so far this season and has three assists with a lone goal. He’s a minus three on the season and although he notched his third assist last night against Toronto, he was a minus one before leaving the game.

Roster Replacement

In light of Johnson being sidelined for a while, the Blackhawks have some room on the roster now. They recalled Brett Connolly and MacKenzie Entwistle from Rockford. They also sent Mike Hardman down within the transaction. Blackhawks head coach Derek King is in the process of manipulating starting lines and will no doubt spread out his roster accordingly.

Brett Connolly has yet to appear in a game for the Blackhawks this season but played in ten games last year. He scored once and added an assist in those ten games.

MacKenzie Entwistle has scored twice in twelve games this year, in addition to adding an assist. He’s a minus four on the year and averages about eleven minutes of ice time per game.

The Blackhawks next game is tomorrow night when they host the Calgary Flames. They sent Reese Johnson to IR and will be without his services while he heals. The elevation of Connolly and Entwistle fills out the roster after they moved Hardman down as they seek getting back into the win column.
