Tiger Woods was dressed in his familiar Sunday red yesterday at the Honda Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Woods recorded a career best final round score of 62 on Sunday. Behind two eagles and four birdies, Woods was climbing his way to the top of the leader board early Sunday, and was within two strokes of leader Rory McIlroy by the end of his round.

McIlroy shot a final round score of 69 to drop him to 12 strokes under par for the entire tournament. He beat out Woods for first by two strokes. Woods finished in second, with a four round score of 10 under.

With McIlroy’s win, he claimed the world golf number one ranking from Luke Donald. He is the second youngest player to ever be ranked number on in the world, with the previous youngest being Tiger Woods. Ever since the world golf rankings were established, there has only been sixteen golfers to claim the number one spot. Tiger Woods holds the record for longest time spent at number one, which was 264 weeks.

With McIlroy’s win, mass chaos erupted on Twitter as people were speculating whether or not McIlroy would ever be as great as Tiger Woods. He is far from breaking Woods’ records. Woods has 14 career wins in majors, compared to McIlroy’s 1. Woods has 264 weeks atop the world golf rankings and McIlroy is just getting started.

The next PGA Tour event is The World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship and is this week from March 8-11. Look for more updates on Woods and Mcilroy throughout the season.
