PLAYERS: Phil Mickelson
Phil Mickelson said he was going to light it up at the Masters. When he made that statement, fans everywhere were thinking the move Phil would make, would be into red numbers. Mickelson didn’t light anything up. He played some of the worse golf of his career this week at Augusta. Phil shot 76 in his second round and posted a 77 on Saturday in his third round. This is very uncharacteristic coming from Mickelson. Something has to be wrong with Phil  should call his old coach Rick Smith on the phone and pay for him to fly to Augusta to keep Mickelson from embarrassing himself even further. Mickelson hasn’t been the same player as he was under the watchful eye of Smith. He left Smith in favor of Butch Harmon and he has not been the same player. Phil played terrible in the 3rd round of the Masters. He had back to back double bogeys today in the Masters. He had them on 11 & 12. Either Phil was pressing too hard or he just isn’t the player he once was. There was a time when Phil would ...

Sergio and ‘Mental Strength’

I hate the common tropes of “mental strength” not because I don’t believe they’re valid, but because they’re often used by idiots who are using it as a vehicle of affirmation since they’re either too lazy or uninitiated to delve into the real reasons some golfers become Tiger Woods or Phil Mickelson while others “languish” as Adam Scott or Lee Westwood. And perhaps...
