As Tiger Woods prepares to tee off at the Masters on Thursday, an ESPN report said his half-brother is suffering from multiple sclerosis and is in danger of losing his house, but has not been able to reach the superstar golfer. Another of Woods' half-brothers, Earl Woods Jr., said Kevin Woods, 52, was diagnosed with the disease in 2009 and has been unable to work, prompting them to reach out to Tiger for assistance. "I leave messages," Earl Jr. told ESPN columnist Rick Reilly. "I leave updates on Kevin, but for whatever reason I don't get a response. ... Kevin loves Tiger. A call from Tiger would really pump Kevin up. When he doesn't call, it just makes him feel worse." Earl Jr., Kevin, and their sister, Royce, were the children of Earl Woods' first marriage. Tiger, who is between 17 and 20 years younger than his half-siblings, was the product of Earl Woods' second marriage, to Kultida Punsawad. The siblings say they have not heard from Tiger since 2006 when their father died. Earl Jr. said the family had been close until Tiger turned "15 or 16." "We haven't asked Tiger for a dime," Earl. Jr said. "Not even tickets to a tournament. But Kevin's losing his home. He needs a caregiver and he can't have a caregiver and keep his home at the same time. And we can't do that; we don't have the means." Earl Jr. now lives in Phoenix while Kevin and Royce live in San Jose, Calif. According to the report, Tiger's spokesman declined to comment on the matter. It is unclear what led to the apparent falling-out between the four-time Masters winner and his siblings. "I'd like to [slap] Tiger, wake him up," Earl. Jr said. "Maybe when you see the world like he does, you don't see what other people are going through. But, seriously? You've got problems with your knee? That's nothing compared to what Kevin is going through. Nothing." The revelations come one day before the year's first major. Woods has arrived at Augusta in his best form in years, recently winning the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill to break a 30-month PGA Tour drought. But the 36-year-old has been stuck on 14 major championships since winning the 2008 US Open, dealing in recent years with injuries and a messy divorce that was highlighted by his public admission of infidelity.

  • Something happened when Mr. Earl left his first family to set un house with his next wife (Tiger's mom). Much of this relationship between old and new family depends on how the family left behind adjusted and how they related to the new kid. Going to the press and doing a Haney is not a smart move.

See where he is at close of light Sunday. Then we'll talk. A day before the opening...

Tiger's first-round swing is a Big Miss

Really, Tiger? Win at Bay Hill like it was 2000, have the world thinking a fifth green jacket's yours for the taking, then show up at the Masters and hit it like it's the bad old days of 2010? If we're to accept that the majestic ball-striking of two weeks ago represented a watershed in the Sean Foley era - or, a return to the best of the Butch Harmon era - then what...

Mark O'Meara, the 1998 Masters champion, withdrew with a rib injury before his first round at Augusta National. The PGA Tour said O'Meara was forced out Thursday when he pulled a muscle. He had played a practice round with good friend Tiger Woods the day before, and then took part in the Par 3 contest. He has not made the cut at Augusta National since 2005, when he finished...

1st Round at the Masters

The first round of the 2012 Masters turned out to be an up and down day for some of the big stars of the PGA Tour. The tour’s biggest star, Tiger Woods, had to deal with a lot of trouble Thursday as he posted an even round 72. If not for a couple of big saves with his putter, Woods would have been at least 2-over par. In his own words Woods said, ” [I] didn’t hit it very good...

Column: Not so easy to cheer for Tiger anymore

He could have used the 23 minutes to practice his putting, or check out the new slope on the 16th green. It might have been enough time for a quick lunch in the player's lounge, or a friendly chat with first round playing partner Sang-Moon Bae. But there were questions to be answered, stories to be told. Tiger Woods understands this as well as anyone, so he dutifully headed...
