Tiger Woods didn’t even say anything negative about the Royal Lytham course he’ll be playing at this week’s British Open, but that didn’t stop the tabloids from taking things he said out of context and vilifying Tiger. Here’s what Tiger actually said: “Oh, my God,” Woods said when asked about the rough. “It’s just that you can’t get out of it. The bottom 6 inches is so lush. The wispy stuff, we’ve always faced that at every British Open.  ”But that bottom 6 inches, in some places it’s almost unplayable.” Nothing wrong there, right? Well The Daily Mirror, The Times of London, The Daily Mail and the Daily Star all wrote headlines/stories about how Tiger was calling the course unplayable and “damning the course” and what not. I get having a little fun with Tiger when he’s having Ambien-fueled sex with waitresses from the local diner, but I don’t get getting all over him for giving a candid description of how he thinks the course will play this week. I get the idea that the Brits might not like Tiger quite as much as I do, and are probably a little concerned that he’s going to beat out Lee Westwood or someone equally as British for the title. They’re also racist, right? When all the Tiger scandal stuff broke, they were all over him in the U.K. Then, they discovered that you could play the Tiger Woods video game topless. So yeah, they’re looking for anything to get on Tiger for. I hope that he wins and then it comes out he’s been sleeping with Kate Upton while Pippa video tapes, and Prince William has an affair with Joe LaCava.
