Found April 08, 2013 on Tap In Golf:
This past weekend, legendary swing coach Hank Haney was in the DC area promoting his junior golf academy, the Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy. I was lucky enough to sit down and chat with the man that coached Tiger Woods for about six years. We chat about many things including The Master’s, Rory McIlroy, Tiger, and most importantly, Five Guys burgers and fries. Take a listen below. Also featured on the clips are the not nearly as famous, but no less important, Tap In Golf contributors Mike Scott and Adam Stewart. Segment 1 – Hank Haney discusses the Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy. The thing that stands out to me, over 90% of the students at Hank’s academy receive a college golf scholarship. Pretty interesting stuff. Segment 2 – We discuss what is more difficult, working with kids or professional athletes. Segment 3 – What’s better for a swing coach, starting from scratch (aka someone who has never played) or fixing an existing swi...

The Maste…/slapped with cease and desist

On Masters Eve, I’ve noticed an eerie calm. Consider the past three Masters starting with Phil’s 2010 win highlighted by his incendiary Saturday and shot from the trees on Sunday.  The 2011 Masters, where Tiger’s front 9 charge lit the fuse for what was one of the most incredible golf tournaments I’ve ever seen that would’ve been almost impossible to top if not for Louis...

McIlroy downplays rivalry with Tiger

Speaking to the supposed rivalry between himself and Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy said that given Tiger's success, "I wouldn’t really be doing him much justice."

Memorable sports moment of the week – Tiger Woods wins the 61st Masters Tournament as a 21-year-old

16 years ago this coming Saturday on April 13, 1997, Tiger Woods dominated the 61st Masters Tournament en route to winning in record-setting fashion by 12 strokes over Tom Kite at the Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia. Woods, who attended Stanford University and turned professional and joined the PGA Tour in 1996 as a 21-year-old, became the first non-Caucasian to emerge victorious...

Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy unveil 2013 Masters wardrobe

Tiger Woods, the No.1 golfer in the world, will be competing for his fifth green jacket beginning Thursday, April 11, while Rory MciLroy ,the No. 2 golfer in the world, will attempt to win his first green jacket. Tiger will be hitting Nike’s VR Pro

Is Tiger of old back for the Masters?

He's got a swing he can finally trust, a putter that shows flashes of the old magic, and a string of wins to prove that it's all finally coming together. The superstar girlfriend is an added bonus, though by now so much time has passed that the debate about Tiger Woods revolves around the state of his game, not his personal life. Winning may not take care of everything...

Guan impresses Tiger & Co. without hitting a shot

At 14, Tiger Woods was running cross-country and trying to stay on top of his homework. Adam Scott was psyched to finish second against a field of 17-year-olds. Rory McIlroy had thoughts of playing in the Masters, but it was the European Young Masters. The world's best players are marveling at Guan Tianling, the 14-year-old from China who will be the youngest to ever play in...

Stricker needs own Masters advice

Steve Stricker wouldn't mind Tiger Woods returning the favor. Stricker spent nearly an hour working on Woods' putting at Doral, and the lesson paid immediate dividends. Woods had a superb week on the greens and has won his last two tournaments. Now if only Stricker can get Woods to show him how to win a green jacket. The Masters is the only major in which Stricker has never...

Notable tee times for 2013 Masters, including Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy

With the 2013 edition of the Masters teeing off on Thursday, here's a look at notable tee times, including Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Bubba Watson.

Is Tiger primed, or past his prime?

As only he can, Jack Nicklaus cut to the heart of what is the most important major of Tiger Woods' career. "He's played very, very well this spring," the Golden Bear said on Tuesday. "If he wins here, I think that it would be a very large step towards regaining confidence. "He has not won a major in (five) years ... if he figures it out here, it will...

Ex-No. 1 McIlroy taking a Lefty turn

Rory McIlroy on Tuesday nominated 1997 and 2005 as the most memorable Masters tournaments he has watched on television. Wonder what those two have in common? No prizes for knowing that they were both won by Tiger Woods. The 23-year-old McIlroy is still as much of a fan as a rival of the man who took his world No. 1 ranking away last month. He grew up in Northern Ireland as a...

2013 Masters Preview: The Top 10 Contenders.

If you’ve read the blog in the past, you know we’ll preview golf’s four majors. It’s that time again. The Master’s is this weekend. I was in Augusta this Saturday weekend, there were already people already  lining Washington Rd. with “need tickets” signs… 5 days before the tournament starts. Have you ever seen that at any other sporting event? Ok the real question...

Tiger to play with Donald, Piercy

Tiger Woods will play the first two rounds of the Masters with Luke Donald and Scott Piercy. Woods has played with Donald before in majors, though never in the opening rounds at Augusta National. Piercy is making his Masters debut. They are in the morning wave Thursday, teeing off at 10:45 a.m ET. Rory McIlroy and Phil Mickelson are at the back end of the draw for the opening round...

The Masters provides an opportunity for players and their apparel sponsors to make their fashion mark for the upcoming season, on golf’s biggest stage. Golfers continue to pay more attention to their fairway fashion choices, fusing their personal style into their on-course wardrobes. From Rickie Fowler’s crazy colored designs to Tiger Woods’ simple aesthetic, this year’s...
