Here's Your April 26th Pin Sheet: Ricky Barnes leads in Louisiana.  Here's's Daily Wrap-Up. Rookie Caroline Masson leads North Texas LPGA Shootout. Ormsby and Vongvanij lead in South Korea. Ryan Spears leads in Tour's South Georgia Classic. Defending Champ Jason Dufner avoids trouble in round one. Guan Tianlang (it's Guan Tianlang now) enters US Open. The AJGA sets time pars for events.  What?  "The AJGA announced a plan to set "overall time pars" for each tournament course, with a goal to reduce pace of play for its events – which send players off in threesomes – to four hours and 19 minutes. According to AJGA documents, the average pace of play in 2012 was 4:23 after rising as high as 4:35 as recently as 2008." Louisiana solidifies reputation with a three-legged alligator at Zurich. This is neat.  A newsreel from Geiberger's 59.

Three-legged gator visits golf course

Ricky Barnes tore up the Zurich Classic on Thursday to nab the early lead, but the real star of the day was a three-legged gator adorably wobbling its way across a fairway. The video below actually shows two gators playing through on the New Orleans course, the first appearing to be much smaller and in possession of all four legs. Our wounded friend comes in at about the 21-second...

Ricky Barnes leads Zurich Classic

Ricky Barnes said he still owes his newborn daughter a late birthday present. Perhaps a piece of silver would be appropriate. Barnes birdied six of the last eight holes Thursday at rain-softened TPC Louisiana to take a one-stroke lead at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, which awards a silver cup to the winner. Barnes finished the opening round with an eagle, seven birdies and...

Massive Alligator Gives PGA Rules Official a Scare During the Zurich Classic

The Zurich Classic of New Orleans had an interesting occurrence on Thursday as a three-legged alligator decided to go for a stroll through the golf course during play.   You can see from the video that the large creature got pretty close to a rules official who was much braver than I would ever be.  The rain soaked TPC Louisiana fairways must have seemed very comfortable for...

Dufner among 8 past Zurich champs in Big Easy

One year ago, Jason Dufner's victory at the Zurich Classic made him the fifth player in the last eight years to celebrate his maiden PGA Tour triumph in New Orleans. This weekend, Dufner will try to become the first repeat winner in the Big Easy since Carlos Franco in 2000. But even if Dufner remains beset by the inconsistency that has kept him out of the top 10 this season...

Three-legged gator crosses green during Zurich Classic of New Orleans

Three curious — more likely territorial — alligators wandered out of a water hazard and made an appearance on the fairway during the first-round the Zurich Classic of New Orleans Thursday.  Considering that they consider the bayou their home turf, it was no surprise to see the critters lurking about. The creepy part was watching one three-legged, eight-footer hobble up to a...
