Well that didn't take long, Ken Rosenthal says the Dodgers have come to an agreement with free agent catcher Matt Treanor. I don't really see the point, but perhaps Colletti and Mattingly are looking for a Brad Ausmus type of role for Treanor. With maybe the hope of him developing A.J. Ellis and the young but very talented Tim Federowicz. I don't really see the need for this as I think Ellis is perfectly capable of handling the starting catcher role for the Dodgers in 2012. But like I said yesterday for every one thing Colletti does right (Kemp extension) he must do two things wrong, ( Mark Ellis and Matt Treanor) so hey it must be time to do something right.

Treanor, 35, has spent time with the Rangers, Royals, Marlins, and Tigers since debuting in the majors in 2004. IIn 2011, Treanor split time with the Royals and Rangers, in 242 plate appearances the catcher hit .214/.338/.291. Defense again with this one, just like the signing of Ellis yesterday. While the defense needed an upgrade it would be nice to get a little OBP too, wishful thinking I suppose.
