Pro Sports Daily:
A four-run first inning and three home runs temporarily covered up the holes in the Astros’ bullpen powering a team that won for just the third time since July 7 to an 8-6 victory against the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday at Rogers Centre
Matt Dominguez went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs for the Astros (35-68) who are 2-7 since the All-Star break.
Astros starting lefthander Dallas Keuchel used three double plays to limit the Blue Jays (47-56). He gave up 10 hits and six runs in 7 1/3 innings striking out six and walking one but giving up three homers.
After allowing eight runs in the seventh inning and blowing a late lead Friday the Astros responded by recording four quick runs Saturday.
Jonathan Villar led off with an infield single then took third on a successful hit-and-run. Jason Castro singled to right pushing Villar across home and Jose Altuve to third. With Blue Jays righthander Josh Johnson rattled Chris Carter blasted the first pitch he saw – a hanging 92 mph fas...

The Houston Astros have a record of 35-68 but yet their players are drawing a lot of interest from contending teams. We’ve talked about Bud Norris and Jose Veras but now words come out that Erik Bedard is also drawing interest. Bedard has had a relatively nice season and could solidify the back end of a contenders rotation.
Sources tell me Astros LHP Erik Bedard's recent...
Jose Altuve had to leave yesterday's game after just six innings because of tightness in his left quadriceps. He has not yet been diagnosed with a strain, but the team will evaluate him further today. If he experiences continued tightness and pain, the team may upgrade the diagnosis to a strain which could result in a trip to the DL.

The Toronto Blue Jays won three out of four this past weekend against the worse team in baseball, the Houston Astros.
Despite the fact the Jays were playing a bad team, it was still refreshing to see Toronto winning the four game series, especially after starting the second half of the season on a losing note.

J. Meric/Getty Images The Detroit Tigers have added an arm to their bullpen. On Monday the Tigers reached a deal with the Houston Astros for right hander Jose Veras. Veras , 32, has been one of few bright spots for the Astros this season [...]
The Tigers pulled the trigger on the deal everyone knew they wanted to make, acquiring RHP Jose Veras from the Astros to help solve their bullpen depth issues, in exchange for minor league outfielder Danry Vasquez and a player to be named later.
Jose Veras has been acquired from the Houston Astros for outfield prospect Danny Vasquez and journeyman PTBNL.
I don’t know much about him, but it seems like a no risk move. I don’t expect him to close, though I do think it’s reasonable to believe that he’ll be the setup guy.
I’m afraid this means that Octavio Dotel is done for the year.
I think the Tigers are done. I think...
Houston Astros manager Bo Porter says his bullpen is in ''a complete funk'' right now.
That's putting it mildly.
Edwin Encarnacion hit two home runs in one inning, including his sixth career grand slam, Jose Reyes, Adam Lind and Brett Lawrie all went deep and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Astros 12-6 on Friday night.
The Astros are 14-58 this season when their...

The Detroit Tigers added some help for their shaky bullpen Monday, acquiring reliever Jose Veras from the Houston Astros for minor league outfielder Danry Vasquez and a player to be named.

The bullpen wheel of destiny has been spun by Detroit Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski, and it's landed on veteran Jose Veras of the Houston Astros. The Tigers have acquired Veras from the Astros in exchange for prospect Danry Vasquez and a player to be named later.
Relief pitching has been a bit of an issue for the Tigers this season after Bruce Rondon, the preseason favorite for...
Learning to forget past failures has made Colby Rasmus a better hitter this season.
It sure worked out for him Sunday.
After going hitless in his first four at-bats, Rasmus drove in Emilio Bonifacio with a game-winning single in the ninth inning and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Houston Astros 2-1.
Rasmus' game-winning hit came two innings after he popped out to end the seventh...

Edwin Encarncaion had a game he will never forget on Friday night and made Toronto Blue Jays history when the All-Star became only the second player in their almost 37 year existence to hit two home runs in the same inning.
Joe Carter was the first Jay to turn the trick in their regular season finale against the Baltimore Orioles back on October 3, 1993.
