The Pawsox overcame another early deficit to take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series over the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees.

The Yankees jumped out to an early 2-0 in the second inning, and held the lead until the Red Sox scored a run in the bottom of the 5th by way of a Bryce Brentz RBI single. Brentz added another RBI single, this time in the 7th to tie the game 2-2. Jonathan Hee followed with a single to left which scored Brentz due to a throwing error by Scranton's right fielder, Cole Garner. That's all the Sox needed. For the second straight night, the bullpen did a fantastic job in relief and pitched scoreless ball.

The Pawsox will have a chance to win the series in tomorrow night as the series moves to Rochester. In case you were wondering and rather than you lose sleep trying to figure out why the series is moving to Rochester, I'll explain. Due to stadium construction in Scranton, the Yankees will be playing their playoff home games in Rochester.

Ump's blown call costs Yankees

The Yankees lost to the Orioles after the umpire made an awful call to end the game. Take a look at this blown call.

Alex Rodriguez Hits Milestone Home Run In Yankees Win Over O’s

Photo Credit : Keith Allison/Creative Commons Tonight Alex Rodriguez hit his 300th home run in a New York Yankees uniform. This was a key home run in the game because it helped the Yankees stretched their 5-0 lead to 7-0. That eventually led to the Yankees 8-5 victory to reclaim first place in the American League East for the second time in three days. With the Yankees scoring five...

Yankees are back on top again

Finally, the New York Yankees beat the Tampa Bay Rays 6-2; and they did it at Tropicana Field, which ESPN’s Matt Ehalt nicknamed the Yankees “House of Horrors.” New York Yankees at Baltimore Orioles April 24, 2011 (Photo credit: Wikipedia) With a Baltimore Orioles loss up in Canada, the Yankees stand alone atop the AL East by one-game. The Yankees certainly cut it close, as...

Clayton Mortensen Eyeing A Full-Time Roster Spot With Red Sox in 2013

BOSTON –– Clayton Mortensen has shuttled back and forth from Triple-A to the majors on six occasions this season. One second, he's a passenger on the team's private charter to the West Coast, and the next, he's riding the bus to an obscure East Coast town with the Pawtucket Red Sox. Regardless of the venue, Mortensen has dazzled in relief. In 20 games for the Red...

Your Morning Dump... where the "Farrell for manager" campaign returns

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. There are indications that Farrell -- and not Dale Sveum or Valentine -- was the first choice of the Red Sox last October when the team chose not to retain Terry Francona. Before the notion could pick up...

Dustin Pedroia Feels Red Sox Need to Do Better Job of Knocking in Runs (Video)

The Red Sox were able to scrounge together five runs against the Blue Jays on Friday night, but it just wasn't enough to finally break Boston out of their now season-worst 1-9 slump. Dustin Pedroia did his part on the night, belting a towering solo home run in the eighth inning, but still feels that the Sox offense isn't doing enough to bring runs around to score. The second...

Felix Doubront Could Be Shut Down for Season After Falling Victim to Home Runs

Editor's note: is going to tell the story of the 2012 Red Sox in Bobby Valentine's words. Each game day, we will select a Valentine quote that sums up the day for the Red Sox. BOSTON -- The road woes have spilled into Fenway Park. After posting a 1-8 record on their recent West Coast swing, the Red Sox fell victim to another clunker. As has been the story recently...

Kevin Ogletree, Pedro Ciriaco Underline Differences Between Fantasy Football, Baseball (Video)

Football is back! And that means fantasy football is back, too. But with baseball season -- and therefore fantasy baseball -- still in full swing, there's no need to go diving headfirst into the gridiron quite yet. Besides, there are some key differences between fantasy football and baseball that you might not have thought of. NESN Nation's Dan Duquette breaks it down in...

Friday Red Sox Travesty - 9/7

After having the day off on Thursday as they returned home from a miserable 1-8 road trip, the Boston Red Sox return to action as they'll kick off a six-game, seven-day home stanza. Tonight they'll host the Toronto Blue Jays in the Battle for the Basement in the first game of a three-game set. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on NESN...

Farrell-to-Boston rumors won't die

On the surface, the three-game series between the Boston Red Sox and the Toronto Blue Jays that opens Friday night in Fenway Park appears to be a battle for last place in the American League East. With the Red Sox, though, it's never so simple. Fresh off a wretched 1-8 trip to the West Coast, the Red Sox are bound for their first losing season since 1997 and maybe their worst...

Red Sox Live Blog: Daisuke Matsuzaka Faces Blue Jays With Climbing Out of Last Place at Stake

8 a.m. ET: We have reached Game 140 of the Red Sox’ 2012 season. Call it the Playing for Pride Special. After losing 7-5 to the Blue Jays in the series opener on Friday night at Fenway Park, Boston (63-76) dropped into a tie with Toronto (62-75) for last place in the AL East. Can the Red Sox avoid taking sole possession of the cellar? Daisuke Matsuzaka gets the ball in Game 2 against...

Enough is Enough

Earlier today Red Sox manager had a testy exchange with WEEI radio hosts Glenn Ordway and Michael Holley, during which (beginning at the 2:55 mark) Valentine said to Ordway, “If I was there I would punch you right in the mouth.” Bobby Valentine deserves his share of the blame for the Red Sox performance but let’s not forget - he did not assemble the team...
