Jose Bautista has been placed on the disabled list. The Toronto Blue Jays made the move yesterday evening after Bautista showed little improvement from a bone bruise he suffered a couple weeks ago. Bautista was not able to play in the second game of the double-header yesterday because of the injury and was subsequently placed on the DL.
#BlueJays place Jose Bautista on DL with hip bone bruise. Move to come later

Bautista has been one of the most consistent players on the Toronto Blue Jays roster this season. In a year of disappointment and underachieving, Bautista managed to be his same consistent self. He tried to play through the pain of the bone bruise for the last two weeks, though, but it was affecting his performance and he couldn't quite handle it any longer.
Bautista is hitting .259/.357/.499. His OPS is slightly down from last year, but he still made the American League All-Star team for the fourth straight year this season. Overall, Bautista is a .254/.361/.487 hitter in his 10-year Major League career.
Bautista's placement on the DL does not have any immediate impact on the Blue Jays' season. The season was lost long ago. The Blue Jays now have to focus on getting him healthy, because based on the July 31st trade deadline rush, Bautista may not be untouchable. If he's available for a possible trade, the Blue Jays will need to make sure he is healthy to get the best return this offseason. But even if he is not traded, they want to get continued production out of the 32-year old.
