With the Toronto Blue Jays clinching the AL East and securing their bye past the Wild Card Series, their first playoff game won’t be until Saturday, October 4th.
To keep the players prepared for playoff action, the Jays announced earlier today that they will be hosting intrasquad games at the Rogers Centre, with tickets available for $10 apiece. Proceeds are going towards the Blue Jays charity, Jays Care.
The games are scheduled to take place on Wednesday and Thursday, with gates opening at 3:15 p.m. EST on both days for the scheduled games to begin at 4:00 p.m. EST. Fans will be able to enter the building from gates five or eleven, with accessible support available at gate seven. All tickets are for general admission to the lower bowl of Rogers Centre, so there is no assigned seating. There is also no indication which players will be taking part or who will be pitching, so the short sample games could see a variety of players and prospects taking the field.

As informal scrimmages, the games are only planned to be four to five innings long and will feature players from the Blue Jays and the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons. This will keep the Jays players fresh for the coming series without sacrificing the crowd energy.
“Our fans have brought the energy to Rogers Centre all season long, and we need them to keep bringing the noise,” said Blue Jays manager John Schneider, in the team’s press release. “We want the team to be in game mode this week, and the fans are the most important piece to making Rogers Centre feel like a game atmosphere.”
The Blue Jays will face the winner of the Wild Card Series between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees, with those games kicking off tonight in New York.
