Bobby Valentine's time in Boston was not pretty, and on Thursday, as expected, the tumultuous year cost Valentine his job in Boston. The Red Sox announced that Valentine would not return to the club. The Red Sox followed up a disappointing finish to the 2011 season by hiring Valentine, who reportedly butted heads with players as early back as spring training. From there, things didn't get any better. The Sox were simply awful all season, going 69-93, finishing last place in the American League East. It marked Boston's first losing season since 1997, and the 93 losses are the most...

  • Talk about candy coating the truth, yikes. Valentine absolutely was the main reason the Sox sucked. No sooner did he take over and he started throwing players under the bus. He destroyed the clubhouse of a veteran team. Injuries, sure they had injuries...what team doesn't. The Yankess had injuries to Teixeira and ARod. Lost Gardner for 90% of the season the best reliever in the history of the game in Rivera for the entire season. They never got an inning out of Pineda and lost Pettite to a broken ankle for a long stretch of the season. But you didn't see their clubhouse collapse. Valentine should go back to Japan to manage where they will put up with this guys crap. He then threw his coaching staff ubder the bus when he said they undermined him...WOW!!! Curt Schilling was right on the money when he said it was the most cowardly thing he has ever heard a manager say in the game, I agree. According to booby it was everybody elses fault but him.
