Overture: as I look over at the MLB network set on my left, I see that Peter Gammons has moved over to make room for Harold Reynolds. No matter how far you run, Peter, you cannot get away.
As Satchel Paige noted, the social ramble ain't restful. If the purpose of these meetings is for general managers to meet and make deals, they fail woefully. There is also a great deal of redundancy in the media coverage: the same stories echo and repeat and there is no utility to it. Realistically, John Heyman and Ken Rosenthal could be sent here by subscription and the rest of us could stay home and follow them on Twitter.
Intermission: as I type these words, Jose Reyes is being introduced as a member of the Miami Marlins, AKA the Team Nobody Could Love (Because They Don't Deserve It). I had wondered if Reyes would get a haircut for the occasion. A: Are you kidding? The Marlins are the essence of screw-you capitalism. They are far from unique in this, but that doesn't mean I ha...

Bra-freaking-vo. That, folks, is some serious comeuppance. The photo, courtesy of @Matt Sebek (by way of The Sports Hernia Blog). Sebek is understandably irate over Pujols signing with Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and chose to express his frustrations by a little bit of subtle statue-defacing. I wholeheartedly applause his actions. He tweets: How about [...]
The courtship for Jose Reyes by the Miami Marlins began at one minute past midnight on Nov. 3 and was finalized Sunday with a six-year $106 million contract because of the New York Mets feeble effort to sign their four-time All-Star shortstop.
"They didn't make me an offer," said Reyes decked out in a new Marlins jersey at a press conference in Miami this afternoon...

To many, it was shocking that Albert Pujols decided to leave familiar territory in St. Louis and sign with the Angels on Thursday. But maybe even more shocking is the fact...
The Dominican slugger's baseball skills might draw more attention than his heritage after his decision to join the Angels. Pujols, however, could be labeled as a mercenary for leaving St. Louis. The Dominican slugger's baseball skills might draw more attention than his heritage after his decision to join the Angels.

And boom goes the dynamite.
The Angels made two big moves today, that will make them immediate contenders for not just a AL West title, but a World Series as well. Let’s take a look at how Albert Pujols and C.J. Wilson shake up the fantasy world.
What about Mark Trumbo and Kendrys Morales?
This can’t be good news for Morales, who has been out for the better part of two seasons...
DALLAS (AP) -- The Colorado Rockies have sent closer Huston Street and cash to the San Diego Padres.
After grabbing Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle and Heath Bell and missing on Albert Pujols and C.J. Wilson, Miami still has its eyes on the market.
Just mere minutes after landing the biggest free agent, in Albert Pujols, sources from LA are reporting CJ Wilson has verbally agreed to join him with the Los Angeles Angels.
Wilson, the ace on a Texas Rangers side that made 2 straight World Series, was apparently deciding between the Miami Marlins and LA. You have to expect the Pujols signing to have been...
As the Mets continue to move past the Jose Reyes signing in Dallas, they have provided far more clarity on what they will not do this offseason than what they ultimately will.
A ton of stuff to report.Albert Pujols is signing with the Angels for 10 years at $25 million + per year.Evidently the Vernon Wells contract isn't hampering them too much, as they are also reported to be signing CJ Wilson for 5 years, $75 million.Miami/Florida continued its busy offseason by signing Mark Buehrle to a 4 year, $58 million deal.In Toronto news, the Blue Jays DFA...
