(Photo: Jeff Curry/US Presswire) My understanding is the Cardinals had never swept a four-game series against the Brewers.  But after watching those four games, it’s hard to believe the Brewers have ever won against St. Louis.  In three of the games, the Cardinals jumped out to big leads and never looked back.  On Saturday, Milwaukee actually showed some life, scoring five earned runs against Adam Wainwright – something they had never done before. It wasn’t enough.  Even when the Brewers do things right against the Cardinals, it just isn’t enough.  When a guy like Daniel Descalso – who was hitting all of .167 at the time and only had one previous homerun against a lefty pitcher – takes Tom Gorzelanny out of the park to put the Cardinals back on top, after the Brewers fought to get back in the game…it just feels like there’s nothing they can do.  On Sunday, Allen Craig drove in a run on a bloop triple in the sixth inning.  A bloop triple!?  When has there ever been a bloop tripl

Cardinals' Chris Carpenter may not be done, starting throwing program

Put the gold watch back in the box and cancel the balloon and cake orders.  Chris Carpenter may not be thrown a retirement party after all.  The veteran St. Louis Cardinals' ace announced earlier this year that he would not be able to pitch this season and would possibly even retire.  However, he is working on a possible comeback. Joe DiGiovanni of MLB.com says Carpenter...

Brewers' Estrada: 'It was a bad outing'

MILWAUKEE Marco Estrada's body language screamed of frustration out on the mound Sunday afternoon. Afterwards, that frustration was mixed with anger as the right-hander's inability to help his team snap its losing streak was eating away at him in the home clubhouse. Estrada lasted just 3-13 innings, allowing eight earned runs while walking five in Milwaukee's 10-1 loss...

Cardinals still hopeful of Chris Carpenter return

When Chris Carpenter experienced nerve irritation before the start of Spring Training some openly wondered if the pitcher would ever pitch again. The St. Louis Cardinals have not given up hope that Carpenter would return to the team this year, even if it means in a relief role. Carpenter, 38, is currently on the 60-day disabled list but has begin throwing. In his career Carpenter...

Brewers made the right choice by keeping Gomez and dumping Morgan

It was just couple years ago that Nyjer Morgan was dancing around, yelling F-bombs into the live television camera, after the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Arizona Diamondbacks in a NLDS showdown. Of course, the Brewers made it to the NLCS against the St Louis Cardinals. The two teams developed a small rivalry as Morgan made comments saying along the lines that the Cardinals will not...

Jay lifts Cards over Brewers in 9th

Kyle Lohse failed to find his rhythm against his former team. The St. Louis Cardinals pounded out 11 hits against him in six innings on the way to a 6-1 victory. ''They just never gave me an opportunity to settle in. It was really a battle for me all night,'' Lohse said. ''It wasn't my best night. I felt good starting out but then it just kind of got...

Greinke-Segura trade already paying dividends

MILWAUKEE Ever since Robin Yount traded his infielder's glove for an outfielder's mitt after the 1984 season, the Milwaukee Brewers have been searching for a shortstop. Rangers-Brewers Preview

After a promising start to a nine-game homestand, the Milwaukee Brewers are in the midst of a five-game skid. The Brewers look to avoid a season-high sixth straight loss as they open a two-game interleague set against the Texas Rangers on Tuesday night at Miller Park. Milwaukee (14-16) held a 22-12 scoring advantage over Pittsburgh to win the first two on the home stretch, but...

Topps Thinks Cardinal Fans Aren't Worthy

Our friends over at Big League Stew had a nice little post about a new product that Topps (yes, the same company that makes ball cards) has created: LINK HERE They're called 'Minis' and they're pretty... stinking... cool. 2.5" vinyl figurines of my favorite Cardinals? Put a couple in the office. Maybe give a few as gifts. The possibilities are endless...

Lynn goes for an 11th straight regular-season victory Tuesday night, when he tries to remain unbeaten against the Chicago Cubs in the opener of a two-game set at Wrigley Field. St. Louis (20-11) has the NL's best record...

Brewers look to turn the tide on Cardinals

While Adam Wainwright has had plenty of success against the Milwaukee Brewers, Yovani Gallardo hasn't been able to figure out why the St. Louis Cardinals give him so much trouble. St. Louis seeks a fifth straight win Saturday while sending host Milwaukee to a fourth consecutive defeat. Wainwright (4-2, 2.03 ERA) has gotten off to a solid start, striking out 43 while walking...
