Getting hit by a Matt Harvey fastball clocked at 96 mph in the first inning of Tuesday night’s All-Star Game didn’t stop Robinson Cano from traveling home to the Dominican Republic. “He is in the Dominican and [is] day-to-day,’’ general manager Brian Cashman said of his best player, who left the AL’s 3-0 win with a bruised right quadriceps. Cashman chatted with Cano after X-rays Tuesday night were negative. “After the X-ray the Mets team doctor called and put Robbie on,’’ Cashman said. Cashman wasn’t ready to rule Derek Jeter in or out for tomorrow night’s game against the Red Sox at Fenway Park.

Matt Harvey wants to model his dating life after Derek Jeter’s

New York Mets ace Matt Harvey could be the next big thing in New York. In addition to having a 7-2 record and a 2.35 ERA in 19 starts this season, Harvey also has a tremendous sense of humor. And it seems like the ladies love him. Harvey, who last we heard is dating this [...]

Jeter returns to disabled list

Derek Jeter is back on the disabled list. The Yankees placed their captain on the 15-day DL on Friday. He strained his right quad in his first game back with New York last week after being out all season with a broken left ankle. The Yankees had waited to make a decision, using the four days of the All-Star break for the shortstop to receive treatment. But with New York set to...

Yankees Place Derek Jeter on 15-Day Disabled List With Quad Strain

Derek Jeter has played a grand total of one big league game this season, and he won’t play another for at least another week or so. The Yankees placed the shortstop on the 15-day disabled list Friday after his latest injury setback. The move is retroactive to July 12, but the 39-year-old’s status after the stint runs out may be up in the air, too. Jeter, who rushed back from...

Robinson Cano Leaves All-Star Game After Taking Matt Harvey Pitch Off Knee in First Inning (GIF)

The last thing the Yankees need is to see one of their players go down in an exhibition game. That’s exactly what happened Tuesday night, though, when a 97-mph fastball from Mets ace Matt Harvey hit Robinson Cano in the right knee, forcing the Yankees second baseman to exit the All-Star Game in the first inning. Cano walked to first base but was soon removed from the game, with...

Bartolo Colon accidentally slapped Robinson Cano’s son following Home Run Derby

Kids need to learn to steer clear of grown men when they’re in full on bro mode. Robinson Cano’s son learned this the hard way, as he was the unwilling recipient of a Bartolo Colon slap to the head as the A’s pitcher gave 2013 MLB Home Run Derby champion Yoenis Cespedes a congratulatory hug. On second glance Colon’s head smack looks a little deliberate. Maybe Bob’s Blitz...

Thought’s On Matt Harvey’s Future $200 Million Contract

Yesterday, after I posted on what someone from Men’s Journal had sent me and asked to share their article for our readers, I didn’t quite get a chance to weigh in on the totality of the article which covered a lot of ground. I simply posted a quick excerpt for them with a link to their full article. It’s quite apparent that Matt Harvey has a taste for the finer things in life...

Matt Harvey’s Moment In National Spotlight Is Here

IT IS MATT HARVEY’S TIME (MLB) For the first time since the ninth inning of Game 7 of the 2006 NLCS, the New York Mets will have their moment under the national spotlight tonight as they host the All-Star Game, with the maître being Matt Harvey. The whispers were first heard when Harvey had a 5-0 record in mid-May. The no-decision kept coming, but they didn’t deter the whispers...

Derek Jeter's forged signature shows up on NYC politician's petition

If you believe a local New York City politician's petition, Derek Jeter has given up his Trump Tower penthouse to live at a rundown, six-floor walkup on Lafayette Ave. in the South Bronx. It would be convenient. Since it's only a one-stop ride on the No. 4 train to Yankee Stadium. According to the petition, Jeter's new neighbors include New York Giants defensive...

Report: Dustin Pedroia extended soon; Affect Robinson Cano?

During the all-star break, the Boston Red Sox and second baseman Dustin Pedroia were in talks regarding a contract extension that may be worth as much as $100 million. Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports is estimating the deal to be as long as five or six years, with a likely annual salary of $20 million. Pedroia is signed through next season at $10 million with the following year being...

Indians finding success even with a small budget

The endless debate about baseballs unfair financial system will go on as long as some teams spend more than 150 million and others less than 50 -- million. When the Yankees top four paid players -- Alex Rodriguez, CC Sabathia, Mark Texeira, Derek Jeter and Vernon Wells -- make more than 17 entire teams in major league baseball, something is askew. Except it might not matter as much...

Matt Harvey Asks New Yorkers About Matt Harvey

((HT: Late Night With Jimmy Fallon)) He's in his first season as a Mets starter and is doing... okay... So, he gets named to the All-Star team and is named (very thoughtfully by NL Manager Bruce Bochy) to be the starter... Jimmy Fallon took advantage of his almost rookie-ness to see just how many people know Matt Harvey in his street clothes from Matt Harvey as a baseball...

Dugout Digest - the midsummer classic

It's time for the All-Star Game! Woohoo! American League vs National League, live from Citi Field at 8 PM! OK, maybe I'm the only one excited, but that doesn't matter. At the very least, it's baseball. We can handle that, right? Here are the lineups for tonight's game, started by Max Scherzer for the American League and Matt Harvey for the National League. The...
