It was another rough night for the Baby Birds as they finished the night 1-4. The only winner was Palm Beach. Memphis, Springfield, Peoria, and Johnson City lost. The GCL Cards are always off on Sundays and State College had their game suspended due to rain. In the upper minors, Jamie Romak had a perfect night at the plate going 4-for-4, he also stole 2 places. Romak is getting first base playing time while Brock Peterson is up with the big club. Zach Petrick (pictured) made his second Double-A start and it was probably his worst appearance on the season, but still was not bad. The Springfield offense came alive for one inning, the fifth, where they scored all 4 of their game runs. Palm Beach used the long ball to beat the Tampa Yankees. Jonathan Rodriguez hit two long balls and David Popkins added one as well. In the lower minors the Peoria Chiefs were limited to just four hits and spoiled a dazzling effort by Bradley Watson. Watson cleared 8 innings in his start on Sunday night. The pitching staff let down the Johnson City Cardinals on Sunday. The Cards ran through 4 pitchers in the 7th inning with 2 of them failing to record an out. St. Louisan Lance Jeffries had a couple of hits.
