TEAMS: Seattle Mariners, Detroit Tigers, New York Yankees
It's been a ride for Seattle Mariners outfielder Casper Wells since his trade for Doug Fister in 2011 from the Tigers.
We all know he hasnt seen the field that much in 2012 (19 at bats in 16 appearances).
What you maybe didn't know however is that Wells is from Schenectady, New York. In game 3 versus the Yankees on Sunday (Mothers Day) the skipper Eric Wedge game Casper the chance to start against the Yankees, and boy did Wells make the most of it.
Playing in front of friends and family Wells smacked a 2-run homer for his mother Daiva.
Not to shabby. Oh the kicker. He hit it off childhood idol Andy Pettitte.
Prior to the big Sunday game for Wells he said post game he had a conversation with his Mom.
Quote: My Mom called me and she said, Just hit a homer for me! Oh yeah, easy request. Easy thing to do, hit a homer at Yankee Stadium! Nice Mothers Day Present Casper. Well done.

Seattle Mariners salvage finale, go 1-2 vs. Yankees
Yankee Stadium is a difficult place to play, and that is where Seattle started their second 10 game road trip in 10 days. The Mariners won the series finale on Sunday, escaping New York losing two out of three. Seattle started their last road trip by winning the first four (three against Detroit and one against Toronto) but was unable to duplicate that against the Bronx Bombers even...
Does Brendan Ryan need to hit?
Brendan Ryan is batting .149. His manager, Eric Wedge, said some unhappy things about Ryan recently and benched him against the Yankees. with the clinching line being: "He's not 25 years old, he's 30 years old,'' Wedge added. "It's time for him to figure out what he needs to do to be successful. I can't be any more honest than that.'' We...
Is Felix Hernandez the Most Intimidating Starter in the Majors?
The Red Sox have dodged a bullet in their series with the Mariners because they don't have to face Felix Hernandez. Hernandez, who was named the American League Cy Young in 2010, has been lights out again this season, boasting a 2.29 ERA through eight starts. His record, meanwhile, sits at 3-2 -- a typical record win-loss record for him given the Mariners' offensive inefficiency...

Mariners Mid-May Reality Checks
Have we seen the last of Chone Figgins?Photo Credit: seattlebaseballtraininglessons.com
With all the early spring Mariners optimism now relatively gone, it’s about time we take a reality check and look at the true state of the 2012 Mariners. From Chone Figgins to Felix Hernandez, there’s a lot to talk about.
Chone Figgins is done as an everyday player in Seattle: In a last...
Series Preview: Mariners at Indians 5/16-17
The Indians just completed a quick 2 game sweep of the Minnesota Twins. Many positive things came out of this series: starting pitching was strong, the offense started producing runs, they hit a 4 home runs in 2 games, and Johnny Damon is no longer in the lead off role. Next, the Indians return home for another 2 game series, this time against the Seattle Mariners, who are currently...
Mariners 6, Yankees 2
Mariners 6, Yankees 2. With AP Photos. By HOWIE RUMBERG AP Sports Writer Even Kevin Millwood was caught up in Andy Pettitte's return to the big leagues.
Still, he was happy to play the spoiler.
Millwood pitched three-hit ball for seven innings and Casper Wells and Justin Smoak each hit a two-run homer, lifting the Seattle Mariners past Pettitte and the New York Yankees 6-2...
Mariners-Indians Preview
The Seattle Mariners' offense has been stagnant recently, much like the last time Felix Hernandez took the mound against the Cleveland Indians.
Hernandez looks to bounce back from a rough outing when Seattle seeks its fifth victory in the last six road meetings with Cleveland in the opener of a two-game set Wednesday night.
Seattle has scored two runs or fewer in five of its...
