TEAMS: Chicago White Sox
Although the end was in sight for almost a week, the Chicago White Sox’ playoff hopes sadly came to a complete end Monday night. Despite beating the Indians 11-0, Detroit’s victory over the Royals clinched their division title and closed the door on any remaining playoff chances for the Southsiders. The Sox closed out the tumultuous season 85-77. Going into this season, if any baseball analyst was asked if the Sox were going to be above .500 in October, the answer would have been a resounding “absolutely not.” However, not only were the White Sox above .500, but were in the playoff push until the last week. This might seem like a good thing considering they exceeded expectations, but given the nature of the season, not being in the playoffs is definitely a disappointment. The Sox held the top spot in the AL Central for 117 days this season and were poised to win the division. All they had to do was finish out strong. With only two weeks to go, the Sox held a tentative three-game lead ...

White Sox move on after AL Central run falls short

The Chicago White Sox made a surprising run at a division title. Now, big changes could be in store. They might be saying goodbye to Jake Peavy and A.J. Pierzynski, and the front office could be in for some shuffling, too. That explains that feeling of finality as the White Sox lost their grip on the AL Central lead and ultimately finished three games behind Detroit in the division...

White Sox's Youkilis unsure of future

Kevin Youkilis says he enjoyed his time with the Chicago White Sox, and that his family will come first in a deciding where he plays next season. Set to become a free agent, the 33-year-old third baseman hit .236 with 15 homers and 46 RBIs in 80 games for the White Sox after being acquired from Boston on June 25. Season ended unexpectedly for White Sox, but future seems promising

For 117 days, it was right there for the Chicago White Sox. They were consistent, they didn't beat themselves and, while on paper they might not have had the talent that Detroit did, they weren't blinking. After holding first place for 117 days, it all disappeared in a 10-day period when the Sox lost eight of nine games starting Sept. 19 and never recovered. That disappointment...

Chicago White Sox fan dances to Lady Gaga (Video)

For some people, a mixture of drinking at a Major League Baseball game and some music can cause them to do stuff they wouldn't normally do. Report: Marlins 'Aggressively Seeking' Replacement for Ozzie Guillen

Ozzie Guillen was supposed to be the straw that stirred the drink. Instead, the only thing Guillen stirred up in his first season in Miami was controversy, and that could have the Marlins skipper soon headed for the unemployment line. ESPN's Buster Olney reports that the Marlins are "aggressively seeking" a replacement for Guillen, although no decision has yet been...

Box Score: White Sox 9, Indians 0

The Indians (68-94) season has come to a woeful, merciless end.
