There's monkey business, and then there's Crystal the Monkey business.

Crystal the Monkey, a female capuchin monkey and animal actress, dropped by Petco Park for Thursday's Padres-Dodgers game and was her usual entertaining self.

In addition to delivering the first pitch ball to the mound, Crystal joined the Padres' broadcast booth to soak up the night's action. While there, she even helped read a TV promo, showing that she might deserve a few lines in her next role.

Crystal held movie roles in Night at the Museum, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian and The Hangover Part II, among other films. She also holds a role in NBC's Animal Practice sitcom.

In fact, Ken Jeong, who played alongside Crystal in The Hangover Part II, hasn't met anyone or any animal that compares to Crystal.

"She's amazing," Jeong said in May 2011. "She's not a monkey, she's an actor. And quite possibly the best actor I've worked with."

Judging by Thursday's performance, Crystal might have a play-by-play career in her future if she ever decides to step away from acting.

San Diego Drops Final Two Games, Losing Series to L.A.

The Padres red hot play of August and early September has seemed to cool down as they lost their second straight series, dropping the final two against the Dodgers at Petco Park. The Padres squeezed out a close win on Tuesday only to be blown out by six runs on Wednesday’s matinee. They were unable to come back in Thursday night’s rubber match after again spotting the Dodgers...

The San Diego Padres extended their player development contract with Class AAA Tucson through 2014, the team announced Friday. "We are glad to continue our relationship with Tucson," Padres executive vice president and general manager Josh Byrnes said. It must be getting close to the end of the season because the news is hard to come by with the Padres of late. The MLB world only cares about winning teams, and since the Padres are not winning right now there is no news here apparently. Of course I have come to expect this come the offseason, but not with a week left to play. I thought we would still have some stuff to talk about...

On Thursday, a member of the Hollywood elite assumed a starring role at Petco Park as the hometown San Diego Padres hosted the Los Angeles Dodgers. I guess things come around full circle every once in a while. We all know how awful the season started, then how great we were playing in the middle of the season, and now things have gone bad once again. The Padres have dropped another series, this time against the Dodgers. The sad part is they are not losing close games they are getting blown out. Yes we have young pitchers who...

Daily Friar 9.27.12

If you're going to lose a game you might as well lose big right? Day games usually go in the favor of the Padres, just look at how well we normally do on Sundays. But yesterday the Dodgers got the better of Clayton Richard for once. Normally it's the other way around, Richard usually does pretty well against the hated team from the north. And trust me I really hate this team...

Padres 7, Giants 3

Chase Headley hit his 30th home run and had three RBIs to tie Ryan Braun for the NL lead with 112 and the San Diego Padres beat Buster Posey and the NL West champion San Francisco Giants 7-3 on Saturday night. Posey, who started at catcher a night after being hit in the throat with a wild pitch, went 2 for 2 with a to raise his average to .337 and increase his lead in the NL batting...
