The Chicago Cubs won Thursday’s series finale 4-2 to give them a series victory over the Miami Marlins. For the Marlins, the series loss comes at a time when the organization is debating whether to be sellers at the upcoming trade deadline. The Cubs who are not in playoff contention were seen as a foe that Miami could take at least two of three from. As it stands now, Miami is four games under .500 and ten games out of first place in the National League East.
Mark Buehrle’s one bad inning was the fifth but it was bad enough to tag him with his ninth loss of the year. All four runs that the lefty allowed on the day came in that fifth frame. Buehrle was trying to win his tenth game which would’ve given him twelve straight seasons with ten or more wins. That feat will now have to wait for another day. The veteran went five innings before being lifted for a pinch hitter despite only throwing 71 pitches on the day. Wade LeBlanc, Edward Mujica and Steve Cishek combined for t...

In an otherwise uneventful game, a fan at Wrigley Field made the catch of the day. Unfortunately, the foul ball ended up ruining a beer that likely cost more than the ball itself.
The play occurred in the second inning of Thursday’s game between the Cubs and the Marlins. With one on and nobody out in the top of the second inning, Hanely Ramirez fouled a chopper to the third base...
We all know the checkered history of the Miami Marlins franchise. They generally sit back, wait for their young players to develop, make a strong push for the playoffs, win a World Series and then have a fire sale and trade away all of their best players. Six or seven years go by, and then they gear up to repeat the entire process.
But with a new home, new name and new...
Brett Jackson went 2-5 with a stolen base and somehow DID NOT STRIKE OUT!!! Vitters was 2-4 and Chris Volstad was super ****** on the mound.
Logan Watkins continues to be one of the very few things worth talking about in AA. Yesterday he hit 2-5 with a triple. His average is up to .282.
Matt Szczur hit 3-4 and Ronald Torreyes continues to rebound batting...
Will Ferrell can be one of the funniest guys on the planet when he isn’t trying too hard. Zach Galifianakis has been brilliant in The Hangover and his original series Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis. Throw in Cubs starting pitcher Ryan Dempster, who does a killer Harry Caray impression, and it’s a party.
Ferrell and Galifianakis were there promoting their new flick...
Coming into tonight’s game Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Ryan Dempster was working on a franchise-record 33 inning scoreless streak. With MLB’s trade deadline approaching he’s also been the subject of many rumors, some earlier in the week saying he may be traded before his start tonight. That didn’t happen so Dempster took [...]
If it wasn’t bad enough dealing with inebriated Cubs fans out in the bleachers at Wrigley Field already — the ballpark’s bleacher bums have a notoriously rowdy reputation — one poor vendor working Wednesday’s game between the Cubbies and Miami Marlins had injury added to insult. Or however that saying goes. In the top of [...]
After their off-season roster makeover, the Miami Marlins never expected to be 44-48 after 92 games and 10 games out in the division and 6 1/2 out of the wild card. "I think with the talent we have here we should win more games than we have and it hasn't happened," baseball operations president Larry Beinfest said Thursday. Now, the Marlins could decide this weekend...

OK, maybe it's not so exciting.
But Coleman is probably heading to St. Louis, which probably means something is actually going to happen with...
The Pirates open a three-game series with the Miami Marlins on Friday night at PNC Park. Right-hander Kevin Correia will toe the rubber for the Bucs. Right-hander Ricky Nolasco gets the start for the Marlins.
On Thursday, DiBella Entertainment officially announced their HBO Boxing After Dark Triple-Header, which will take place on September 29, at MGM Grand at Foxwoods. The card, billed as "Road to Glory", is headlined by DBE's undefeated top-rated super middleweight contender Edwin "La Bomba" Rodriguez (21-0, 14KO's) squaring off against the hard-hitting...
ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Kyle Lohse worked seven strong innings and the St. Louis Cardinals' slumbering offense ended Ryan Dempster's 33-inning scoreless streak with a three-run first in a 4-1 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Friday night.
Matt Holliday added a home run estimated at 469 feet, the longest at 7-year-old Busch Stadium, in the third inning.
