I missed a great deal of tonight’s game while I was at band rehearsal. I arrived home during the 6th inning, so I missed most of the excitement.
The Rangers got behind 2-0 early, but the Ian Kinsler hit a lead-off home run in the bottom half of the first frame. And a four-run burst in the 4th, which included a Michael Young triple, showed the Texas boys weren’t going down without a fight.
I missed all of that, but I did get to see Josh Hamilton’s monster home run and the tail end of Yu Darvish’s start as well as the bullpen.
Darvish was decent tonight. Possibly more than decent. Seven innings. Four runs. Four hits. One walk. Ten strikeouts. I’ll take that. Every time. I enjoy watching him pitch and wish we had more than one of him. Especially since Colby Lewis went to the disabled list today with tendonitis in his right arm. He’s the third pitcher from the Opening Day starting rotation to go down. GET WELL, BOYS!!

ARLINGTON, Texas Just imagine how impressive Yu Darvish would be if it weren't for the first inning.
Darvish had another rough first inning Tuesday night against the Tigers, but overcame it to record his 10th win and his fourth game with 10 or more strikeouts. He's now tied with the Mets' R.A. Dickey for double-digit strikeout games.
With the 7-5 victory, the Japanese...
ARLINGTON, Texas The list of injured Texas Rangers starters has grown by one.
Texas put right-hander Colby Lewis on the 15-day disabled list with tendonitis in his right forearm. Scott Feldman will make the start for Lewis Thursday.
The Rangers have recalled left-hander Martin Perez to take his roster spot. The club hasnt decided on a starter for Saturdays game.
Lewis joins right...
ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Texas Rangers are recalling left-hander Martin Perez for tonight's game against Detroit.
The club will make a corresponding roster move before the game.
Perez, who is on the 40-man roster, is 5-5 with a 4.59 ERA in 15 starts for Round Rock. He's pitched well recently, winning is last two starts while allowing two runs in 16 innings.
The Texas Rangers placed starting pitcher Colby Lewis on the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday because of tendinitis in his right forearm. Lewis is one of four Rangers pitchers on the DL. The others are Derek Holland (elbow fatigue), Neftali Feliz (elbow inflammation), and Alexi Ogando (groin). Lewis is 6-6 with a 3.51 ERA this season. In his most recent start on Saturday, he gave...
The Tigers’ offense seemed to of picked up where it left off Monday night but in the end they simply couldn’t overcome the dominance of Yu Darvish.
Darvish fanned 10 over seven innings earning his 10th victory on the season as the Rangers went on to beat the Tigers 7-5 from Arlington.
The Tigers though were able to jump on Darvish early. Austin Jackson led off the game with...
David Murphy went 4-for-5 with two home runs and matched his career high with five RBIs to make a winner out of Roy Oswalt in the Texas Rangers' 13-9 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday night.
Ian Kinsler added a two-run homer and Adrian Beltre had three hits and an RBI in support of Oswalt, who earned his second victory in as many starts with the Rangers by pitching...
A game in which Roy Oswalt goes six innings and David Murphy has four hits, including two home runs, sounds like an easy win, right?
Not so fast there.
No. My boys had to make it interesting again.
Roy Oswalt was decent tonight. Not great, but decent. He pitched six innings, allowing five runs on 13 hits. Yeah, that’s a lot of hits, Roy. You’re probably lucky the Tigers...
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Miguel Cabrera drove in three runs with a pair of doubles, Rick Porcello struck out seven in six innings and the Detroit Tigers beat the Texas Rangers 8-2 Monday night.
After their first 12 batters, the Tigers had already roughed up Rangers rookie right-hander Justin Grimm (1-1) for six runs and eight hits. They had only five runs and 15 hits while losing...
Remember last night when I said I was excited to watch Justin Grimm pitch?
I quickly changed my mind about that.
Poor Grimm. His debut was so lovely, but the Tigers are not the same as the Astros, apparently. Tonight, Grimm allowed five uns on seven hits in the first inning. Yep. It was looking ugly. I’m really not even sure why Ron Washington sent him back out there...
Are you a fan of witnessing baseball history? If so then start rooting against Casey Kotchman and Mike Napoli getting hits. That’s because Kotchman and Napoli would become the first players since 2002 to sandwich a season of hitting .300 between two seasons with sub-.250 batting averages. To date, 14 players have accomplished the feat:
36-37, 3rd place, 2 games behind CWS.
Rick P climbed the mound last night against the same team that battered him for the worst performance of his career eight weeks ago, and turned in his best performance of the year. He threw first pitch strikes to 19 out of 27 batters, and used the Texas heat to consistently threw his best sinker of the year down in the strike zone. Now, he still...
In light of the Brooklyn Nets dolling up that van to say “Happy Birthday” outside of D-Will’s house, Dallas Mavericks have joined the action. Technically. The Texas Rangers had this message on their jumbotron on Tuesday: H/T I Am A GM
Unlike in Monday's wire-to-wire win, the Tigers could not make an early lead stand up, and they dropped a 7-5 decision. Continue reading →
