Texas Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish was one out away Tuesday night from throwing the second perfect game in franchise history. Darvish's dominance of the Houston Astros included a career-high 14 strikeouts.
But his 111th pitch came off Astros shortstop Marwin Gonzalez's bat and one-hopped right back at Darvish.
The 26-year-old pitcher tried to get his glove down in time but later admitted it "was impossible to catch."

In case you missed it, this is how close Darvish came to throwing the 24th perfect game in Major League history.
As you can imagine, Twitter was buzzing when Darvish took the mound for the ninth inning. And that buzz continued even after it was broken up.
According to the MLB public relations department, there were 104,000 mentions of Darvish last night on Twitter and those tweets reached 203 million people.
