David Ortiz doesn’t get what all the fuss is about.
Ortiz rubbed some people the wrong way earlier this week when he told USA Today Sports that he didn’t think that Ryan Dempster drilling Alex Rodriguez during Sunday’s Red Sox-Yankees game was the right thing to do. Ortiz still stands by his comments, but he also thinks that everyone is blowing the whole situation out of proportion.
“Like I said, when I talked about this, I made very clear why I didn’t like A-Rod getting hit at the time,” Ortiz told reporters before Friday’s game in Los Angeles. “If people want to make a big deal about it, I don’t give a flying [expletive]. That’s me. I said what I feel and I tried to say it right. I’m here to win games. I’m not here to be mad at nobody.”
Ortiz told USA Today Sports that he didn’t think hitting Rodriguez was the right thing to do because it “woke up a monster” in the Yankees. The Red Sox ended up losing 9-6 on Sunday, with Rodriguez even going deep off Dempster later in the gam

How much better do you believe yourself to be than Alex Rodriguez. Sure, he lied. So have you. Oh, but he lied again! Again, so have you. But he took PEDs! Yeah, well, who doesn’t take meds? Ya know what? I will let Real Sports’ Bryant Gumbel takeover from here as he pontificates on the A-Rod situation, and more specifically, America’s reaction to it. Gumbel Commentary: America’s...
I saw this article earlier this morning and nearly spit out my coffee -- Boston Red Sox star David Ortiz has said some very shocking (and I mean shocking in a good way!) about Alex Rodriguez! In an interview with USA Today Sports, not only did Ortiz criticize teammate Ryan Dempster's strategy of throwing at A-Rod, but Ortiz suggested that the reason MLB was going so hard after...
A-Rod, A-Fraud, or Alex Rodriguez.
There was a time when Alex Rodriguez was widely considered the best baseball player alive. Those days are long gone. We are now reduced to Oompa Loopma jokes and pictures of him making out with himself.
Rodriguez has 649 career home runs and 1,956 RBI, both good for fifth all-time. We should be celebrate not berate.
He will never be as beloved...

David Ortiz feels that the intentional hit Ryan Dempster took at A-Rod has gone on to backfire.
Per NBC Sports:
“I didn’t like it,” Ortiz told USA Today. “I don’t think it was the right thing to do.
“But we don’t all think alike, and the guy who did it, Dempster, is a great guy.
“It’s not that I didn’t think it was right because Alex...
The Los Angeles Dodgers haven’t lost a series since mid-June, but after splitting the first two games of the series, the Red Sox will send Jake Peavy to the mound Sunday night to hopefully break that streak.
After bouncing back from a tough loss on Thursday night, Jon Lester led the way in Game 2 of the series and pitched an absolute gem. The bats came alive for the Red Sox after...
This may actually hurt A-Rod more than Ryan Dempster’s fastball to his ribs.
According to a story via ABC Eyewitness News, the owner of a Brooklyn bodega, says that he is going to change the name of the establishment that he named after the embattled New York Yankees third baseman, because of the incessant complaining of his customers.
Owner Ricardo Rodriguez tells the Daily...

All-time hit king Pete Rose thinks Ichiro is a fantastic ballplayer but argues the hits he tallied during his career in Japan shouldn't count towards his professional total.
Alex Rodriguez has boosted YES Network’s flagging New York Yankees ratings. Meanwhile, the Texas Rangers are on pace for their highest rated month of the season, and “The ’99ers” was the second-most viewed ESPN “Nine […]
Ryan Dempster received near universal praise after he intentionally plunked Alex Rodriguez with a 3-0 pitch Sunday night at Fenway Park, and though the Yankees almost certainly disagree, there are many who feel Dempster should have never received the five-game suspension later handed down by Major League Baseball.
But on Wednesday, just hours after news of Dempster's compulsory...

The New York Yankees have been there before.

The latest entry in the long-running series in which Brian Cashman discusses the current state of the New York Yankees. With his headwarmer.
Cashman: I’ve been thinking a lot about Dempster hitting A-Rod.
Headwarmer: Thinking? That’s not like you, Bri.
Cashman: It just doesn’t make sense to me. A-Rod has been living in his own reviled bubble for so long. Why would the Sox want...
Outside of Milwaukee Brewer superstar Ryan Braun, no other Major League Baseball player is as despised as New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez. Ironically, UFC president Dana White, who is a die hard Boston Red Sox fanboy, came to A-Rod’s defense while appearing as a guest on “Fox Sports 1 Live.”
Granted, White didn’t give A-Rod props for anything he has accomplished on the field...
