Last night at Game 3 of the A.L.D.S: Park in Greektown, walk towards Ford Field/Comerica & about two blocks from the ballpark the scalpers start routine. “Who needs tickets?” It was explained that we just needed into the park. “Cheapest you got,” was our message. “$160 lower level,” responded one. Keep walking. Another dude says be careful, lots of fakes floating. Now near Cheli’s, normal looking Detroiter with a SRO. A quick $60 & we’re in.

First thing first, a beer. $8.50 Leine Oktoberfest.

With over an hour to kill, the hunt for Busted Coverage material was on. For some reason a quick look at the game-used memorabilia table resulted in the find of the night.

Who wants a locker room cork from the A.L. Central clincher. Yes, just the cork. $20. And for those who want the complete set, you could buy the G.h. Mumm Champagne bottle for $100.

jQuery(function($){$("a img.gallery-wall-fade").hover(function(){$(this).stop().animate({opacity:.5},{queue:false,duration:400});},function(){$(this).stop().animate({opacity:1},{queue:false,duration:400});});});

“Haven’t sold a bottle yet,” said the sales girl. “The corks are goin’ fast, though.”

Our research tells us that a full bottle of Mumm runs $44.99. No idea how the Tigers came up with $20 for the cork, but we’re told you can authenticate the it via the Internet. What a cool Christmas gift.

“Oh, honey, I’ve always wanted a cork that might have been touched by a Tigers clubbie.”

Just another message from baseball teams that they think you’re morons. But, sales seem to prove that you really are morons.
