Doubront Dazzles Marlins as Sox win 10-2 Miami- Felix Doubront returned to form last night as he pitched superb to beat the Miami Marlins last evening. Doubront was hitless during 5 2/3 innings last night and finished the night with allowing only 3 hits over 7 innings while striking out 9 in the process. The offense finally woke up and exploded with 10 runs against the Marlin’s pitching staff with Ortiz and Gonzalez leading the team in the production of the runs. Also utility man Nick Punto and Scott Posednik did their jobs by getting on base and setting the tables for the big bats to drive them in. The hero of the night goes to Felix Doubront as he’s been the Sox best pitcher this year and improved his record to 7-3. Sox have off day today and head to the Windy City to battle the Chicago Cubs in an historic matchup. Felix Doubront has been the ace of the staff that you would normally expect Jon Lester or Josh Beckett to fill the role. When Spring Training ended Doubront earned his spot in the rotation and you couldn’t argue for him to pitch anywhere else and this season he continues to dominate and rack up strikeouts and keep the Sox together. Felix leads the team in Strikeouts (82), tied for wins (7) and 2nd in ERA with 4.17. The Sox have had great pitching from Clay Buchholz and Felix Doubront and hopefully the Sox can continue this momentum heading to Chicago to play Theo Epstein’s last place Cubs. The matchups this weekend are: Friday June 15, 2012 Daisuke Matsuzaka (0-1 7.20 ERA) vs. Ryan Dempster (2-3 2.31 ERA) Saturday June 16, 2012 Jon Lester (3-4 4.57 ERA vs. Jeff Samardzija (5-4 3.96 ERA) Sunday June 17, 2012 Josh Beckett (4-7 4.14 ERA) vs. Paul Maholm (4-5 4.91 ERA) Let’s go SOX!-Jay Schotter
