We touched on this last night, but Ryan Braun was dominant last night in Milwaukee's 8-3 win over San Diego. He homered three times, and tripled for the hell of it too. Braun scored three runs and drove in six, and his OPS for the season is now at .994. Last season, when Braun won the NL MVP award and was apparently a dirty steroid abuser, his OPS was ...994. Well, imagine that.

Game of the Night: Rays 3, Mariners 2 (12 innings). This game went into extras tied at 1 run. In the top of the 11th, the Mariners took a 2-1 lead on a Jesus Montero solo homer. The Rays promptly tied it up on a BJ Upton single in the bottom of the inning off of Mariners closer Brandon League, and would win it in the 12th on an Eliot Johnson walkoff single off of League. Both starters pitched extremely well, with Felix Hernandez allowing one run in eight innings, walking four and striking out nine. His counterpart, Jeremy Hellickson, went seven innings and also allowed one run, striking out seven without a walk.

Pitching Line of the Night: Hernandez and Hellickson both had fantastic outings in their game against each other. Yu Darvish had a fantastic start to improve to 4-0 on the season, going seven innings and allowing one run, walking two and striking out nine.

Hitting Line of the Night: Braun, of course, had a dominant game. David Ortiz of the Red Sox had a great game, hitting a pair of solo homers and walking for good measure. Darnell McDonald, Ortiz's teammate in Boston, went 3/4 with three runs, two RBI, a double, and a homer.

Spotlight Series: Yankees 2, Orioles 1. You know, I didn't expect Baltimore to hold the Yankees to just two runs....but that happened. New York got their two runs on a homer by Eric Chavez in the third inning. Baltimore starter Jason Hammel pitched very well, going six innings and allowing five hits, two runs, two walks, and five strikeouts. Not a bad game at all. He was bested by Hiroki Kuroda, who allowed just one run on a Chris Davis sac fly in the second. Kuroda went seven innings and allowed four hits, the one run, one walk, and three strikeouts. Each team only had one player reach base multiple times: Adam Jones of the Orioles (single and a walk), and Mark Teixeira of the Yankees (two singles). Neither team had an extra base hit. It was really a damn good game.

Other Games: Texas beat Toronto 4-1 behind a great start from Yu Darvish, but Kyle Drabek pitched well for the Blue Jays in a losing effort. Pat Corbin's major league debut ended with a 9-5 win over the Marlins. The Phillies beat the Cubs 6-4 on a late double by Placido Polanco. The Pirates smashed the Braves 9-3, and it was the first time this season they've scored more than five runs. The Red Sox smashed the A's 11-6. A late Jed Lowrie single gave the Astros a 4-3 win over the Mets. The Rockies cooled off the Dodgers with a 6-2 win led by Juan Nicasio. The Angels picked up a much-needed 4-3 win over the Twins. Braun's great game led the Brewers to an 8-3 win over the Padres.

Today's Games: Trevor Cahill and Jordan Zimmermann is a great matchup in DC, and Cole Hamels vs Brandon Beachy is another great game in the NL East. Matt Moore starts for the Rays against the Mariners. Matt Cain goes for the Giants against the Marlins.

Enjoy your day of baseball, everyone.
