Weather has played a role in more than a few games so far this season. Yesterday was the worst weather day of the bunch, as three games (Mets-Rockies, Rangers-Cubs, and Angels-Twins) were all postponed. Furthermore, making those games up is going to be difficult, because it's the only time each of those teams will visit those parks this year. Ah, the joys of the unbalanced schedule... PIC OF THE DAY Justin Smoak levels Brayan Pena, who holds onto the ball for the final out in Seattle. (Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports) Game of the Night: Brewers 4, Giants 3. The Milwaukee Brewers won their second straight over the Giants, picking up a walkoff win on Wednesday night. Kyle Lohse was handed a three run lead in the bottom of the fifth, and immediately coughed it up in the sixth. But in the ninth, Santiago Casilla ran into trouble. Jonathan Lucroy led off with a single, and Alex Gonzalez popped up a bunt for the first out. Carlos Gomez reached on an infield single, and Gomez and pinch runner Josh Prince each moved up a base. The Giants then intentionally walked Yuniesky Betancourt to load the bases (?!?!) for Blake Lalli, who hit a deep fly ball to left over the head of Gregor Blanco to win the game for Milwaukee. Pitching Lines of the Night: Felix Hernandez and Max Scherzer put on one hell of a pitchers duel in Detroit's 2-1, 14 inning win over Seattle. Hernandez allowed one unearned run on four hits in eight innings, striking out 12 without a walk. Not to be outdone, Scherzer allowed one run on six hits in eight innings, punching out a dozen while walking one. AJ Burnett beat up the Cardinals in Pittsburgh's 5-0 win, allowing one hit in seven shutout frames, striking out eight without a walk. Mike Leake obliterated the Phillies in the Reds 11-2 win, throwing seven scoreless while giving up just three hits, striking out seven without a walk. He also went 3/4 at the plate with three runs, an RBI, and a triple. Wade Davis and the Royals ended Atlanta's ten game winning streak with a 1-0 win, and Davis allowed just five hits over seven shutout innings, striking out seven while walking none. Hitting Lines of the Night: Zack Cozart ran the Reds offense in their blowout win over Philly, going 3/5 with three runs, two RBI, a double, and a homer. Everth Cabrera powered the Padres in their 7-2 win over the Dodgers, going 3/4 with two runs, a walk, a double, a homer, and a stolen base. The Nationals got off the schnide with a 6-1 win in Miami, and catcher Kurt Suzuki went 2/3 with two runs, two RBI, a triple, and a homer. James Loney provided the Rays with some rare offense in a 6-2 win in Baltimore, going 3/3 with three RBI, a walk, and two doubles. Other Games: The A's beat the Astros 7-5, their sixth win over Houston this year in as many chances. The Red Sox beat former Sawx starter Justin Masterson and the Indians 6-3. The Yankees edged the Diamondbacks 4-3. The White Sox pummeled the Blue Jays 7-0. What You Missed: Milwaukee made an awesome tribute to Boston, and the Rockies might actually be for real. Today's Games: Matt Cain and Yovani Gallardo will duel in Milwaukee, as the Brewers look for the sweep of the Giants. Justin Verlander gets the nod for the TIgers in Seattle. David Price starts for the Rays in Baltimore. Jon Lester will start for the Red Sox in Cleveland. Chris Sale and RA Dickey will battle in Toronto. Adam Wainwright and Cole Hamels will be matched up in Philly. Jose Fernandez of the Marlins takes on Tony Cingrani of the Reds in a duel of young studs. National TV: Giants-Brewers (1 PM, MLB Network), Rangers-Cubs (2 PM, MLB Network [alternate]), Cardinals-Phillies (7 PM, MLB Network), Marlins-Reds (7 PM, MLB Network [alternate]) Enjoy your day of baseball, everyone.
