Well, it seems that Bryce Harper – who may be playing for the Washington Nationals at some point in 2012 – has gotten a lot of attention as one of the game’s top prospects right now. However, based on what fans of the Orioles have heard in camp this week, Dylan Bundy may not be too far behind.

We, as fans are trying to latch onto anything for a sign of hope with this franchise. Bundy might be it – if all goes well.

Bundy, who was drafted out of high school by the Orioles with their number one pick in '11 raised eyes in Sarasota yesterday in a bullpen session.

From the Baltimore Sun: Wednesday was just the fourth day of spring training workouts here at the Ed Smith Stadium Complex — and the first time he threw for the public (his first session was done Monday as part of the team's biomechanical testing) — but Bundy has already drawn praise for his quiet demeanor and level-headedness beyond his age.

"He's just going about his business. He's trying to get work done, which is the most important thing," said Wieters, another top-five overall pick who was immediately in the spotlight as a pro. "But he's also staying under the radar a little bit for the most part, which is good, because you don't want to go out there and put that big target on your back from the beginning.

"He's got a good arm," Wieters added. "There's no doubt about that. The biggest thing that's going to help him is that he's got a good head on his shoulders."

Bundy is only 19 and more than likely may not see the majors for at least the next few seasons; however, the news out of camp on him seem to be extremely encouraging.

Much was made about his conditioning and the quality of his pitches – all positive; therefore, even though this Bundy’s bullpen outing might be an insignificant report from the scribes in camp over the long run, it is still extremely notable for us fans.

If Bundy keeps up the excellent work and rolls through the minors, then the national spotlight will be on him enough.
