PLAYERS: Elvis Andrus
TEAMS: Texas Rangers
Your browser does not support iframes. Texas Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus showed his athletic ability by making the tag at second base on an attempted steal despite slipping and sliding in front of second base during Tuesday night's game in Anaheim. It happened in the sixth inning as Los Angeles Angels runner Erick Aybar tried to steal on a 1-0 pitch. Andrus slipped in front of second base, but fortunately the throw by Rangers catcher A.J. Pierzynski was so perfect that Andrus didn't have to get up from the ground. It could be argued that Andrus made a better slide into second base than Aybar did. Andrus had a good game at the plate as well, going 3-for-5 with an RBI in the 8-3 Rangers victory. Video via MLB. Visit us at holdoutsports.com and follow us on Twitter @HoldoutSports.

Rangers rumors: It will be 'difficult' to re-sign Nelson Cruz

Once yesterday's suspensions were handed down and it became clear the Texas Rangers would be without slugger Nelson Cruz for 50 games, teammates made it evident that they would welcome the outfielder back following his ban. However, the Texas Rangers organization may not be as open, as Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that the team says it would be "quite difficult...

Rangers lose Lewis for remainder of season

Texas Rangers right-hander Colby Lewis said he kept waiting for the morning he'd wake up and his right hip wasn't hurting him. That moment never came and now Lewis' bid to pitch for the Rangers this season has come to an end. Lewis, who was trying to come back from right flexor tendon surgery, will have bone spurs in his right hip removed by Dr. Thomas Byrd. Lewis will...

Andrus, Rangers Dedicate Win to Cruz

In a meaningful moment after helping the Rangers win over the Angels Monday night, Elvis Andrus came out in support of suspended teammate Nelson Cruz. The Rangers are doing an admirable job of coming out in support of their sidelined superstar without trying to justify any of his actions. Cruz has taken responsibility for his behavior. He will not appeal the suspension.

Texas has to adapt to make playoffs without Cruz

The Texas Rangers are going to have to adapt if they're going to make the playoffs again. General manager Jon Daniels says the team expects to keep winning and make the playoffs for the straight fourth year even without Nelson Cruz. The All-Star right fielder leads the team with 27 home runs and 76 RBIs. Cruz will miss the rest of the regular season after his 50-game suspension...

Rangers RHP Lewis to have hip surgery

Rangers right-hander Colby Lewis will have surgery to remove bone spurs from his right hip, ending his chances of pitching this season for Texas. Lewis says he has been dealing with hip pain during his comeback from surgery last year to repair a torn flexor tendon in his right elbow. The repaired elbow has felt good, but Lewis said Tuesday the hip problem has progressed to affecting...

Rangers activate Berkman, 3 pitchers

Veteran designated hitter Lance Berkman has been activated from the disabled list by the Texas Rangers, who also reinstated three pitchers Sunday on the first day rosters could expand. Berkman has been out since July 7 with left hip inflammation and soreness in his surgically repaired right knee. The pitchers activated from the DL were right-handers Neftali Feliz and Nick Tepesch...

Perez turns in another strong start, Rangers deliver without Cruz in lineup

The loss of Nelson Cruz is going to bite the Texas Rangers’ offense at some point over the next few months but nothing much has changed for the five pitchers in the starting rotation. After all runs have been hard to come by much of the season. Their task is to give their team a chance something they have done as well as any team’s rotation of late and something Martin Perez...

Rangers beat Angels after Cruz suspension

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- The Texas Rangers realize the rest of their regular season won't be the same after bidding farewell to Nelson Cruz. Their dominance of the Los Angeles Angels is still business as usual -- and this time, they didn't even need a late homer to do it. Adrian Beltre homered, Martin Perez pitched into the seventh inning, and the Rangers beat the Angels...

Rangers beat Angels again, tighten AL West race

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- Adrian Beltre drove in the tiebreaking run in the eighth, Yu Darvish pitched seven solid innings, and the Texas Rangers beat the Los Angeles Angels 8-3 Tuesday night for their eighth win in nine games. Rangers 10, Angels 3

Adrian Beltre had a homer, three RBIs and scored three runs to help Texas beat the Los Angeles Angels 10-3 on Wednesday night and move the Rangers into a virtual tie with Oakland for the AL West lead. Alexi Ogando (5-3) allowed two runs four hits over five innings to earn his first win in his last five starts, shrugging off a two-run homer Mike Trout hit in the first inning on his...

LA Angels lose again to Rangers, 5-2

Shortly after the Los Angeles Angels lost Howie Kendrick to a hyperextended knee, they lost yet another game to the Texas Rangers. At least it didn't happen on yet another late homer, which would have made an ugly day even more painful. Adrian Beltre homered, Martin Perez pitched into the seventh inning, and the Rangers beat the Angels 5-2 Monday night after losing All-Star...

Rangers-Astros Preview

The Texas Rangers have battered opposing pitching during a run back to the top of the AL West, while the Houston Astros' bullpen has taken its share of lumps through the club's latest lull. Texas aims for its 10th victory in 11 games Friday night at Houston, where it has been dominant in recent years. In second place since July 2, the Rangers (65-50) now find themselves...

Series Preview: Rangers vs. Angels vs. Zero Percent

VS. MATCH-UP MOTTOS MONDAY, 8/5: Jerome Williams vs. Martin Perez: Do I really have to watch? Seriously, I've got recap duty tonight and I am tempted to write it in advance. Williams is probably going to struggle to make it through five innings and the Angels will get shutdown by Perez because they inexplicably can't hit lefties despite all their best hitters...
