It’s time for another round of daily fantasy baseball picks, which I enjoyed doing so much last week that I’ve decided to continue this week.

Fantasy Baseball Daily Picks Guys I Like

3B Chipper Jones

Did you know that Chipper is back? Larry Wayne has only played in three games this season thanks to some knee trouble, but he’s hit well when he’s been in the lineup (.417, 2 HR). With a reduced slate of games today, Chipper might be a nice value choice at 3B…assuming he doesn’t get the day off after starting yesterday.

SP Stephen Strasburg

The phenom is off to a great start this year (0.69 ERA in two starts) and gets to face the woeful Houston lineup today. Even with Roy Halladay, Justin Verlander, and Jered Weaver on the mound, I’ll take Strasburg, who will come at a lower price in daily formats while offering supreme potential.

Stephen Strasburg is a great option any time he's on the hill. Against Houston, he might even be the best option of the day, even with Roy Halladay, Justin Verlander, and Jered Weaver pitching. (Photo by dbking via Wikimedia Commons)

1B Paul Konerko

With top choices like Albert Pujols and Kendrys Morales struggling, and typical value picks like Eric Hosmer and Billy Butler facing Justin Verlander, why not go for Mr. Consistency? Konerko has a hit in every game this year and has simply become a professional run producer. He’ll earn the salary you pay to get him.

OF Justin Upton

Upton is heating up. He still hasn’t homered, and his batting average is just .241, but he has 5 hits over his last three games (albeit with 5 Ks) and has scored 6 runs during that time frame.

OF Nick Swisher

Swisher has a hit in every game but one this season, and he has driven in 7 runs over his last four games. He’s only 1-6 lifetime versus Carl Pavano, but he’s playing at home and can be had in daily leagues for solid value.

2B Howie Kendrick

Kendrick has six hits in ten at bats over the last two games, and he is 5-10 lifetime against today’s opposing pitcher Brandon McCarthy. The signs point to a solid day for Kendrick.

2B/SS/3B Robert Andino

Depending on your league, Robert Andino likely has eligibility at a multiple positions. He’s also hitting relatively well to the start season, with a BA of .303 and at least one hit in five out of his last six games. Today he faced Philip Humber, who he is 2-5 with a homer against lifetime.

Guys I Don’t Like

SP Tim Lincecum

I would not be panicking yet if I owned Lincecum in full-season leagues, but his first two starts of the year have to be concerning. In daily formats, he simply isn’t worth the price until he proves he’s back to being the Lincecum of old.

1B Albert Pujols

We are now three series into the season and Pujols has yet to homer. This wouldn’t be a huge deal, but his OPS is also just .624. For a guy who was already showing signs of decline last year, that’s concerning. I’m sure Albert will be fine, but in daily leagues I’d avoid his massive salary until he starts hitting.

OF Carlos Gonzalez

CarGo didn’t play this weekend because of an illness. I’m not sure what his status is for today, but he would face a tough pitcher in Corey Luebke if he does play.
