Found March 30, 2013 on Suicide Squeeze:
LA Dodgers: The Dodgers went to great lengths to reel in Zack Greinke (SP). Unless his elbow problems escalate, draft him with confidence. SD Padres: The Padres had a quiet winter. Arizona Diamondbacks: Martin Prado (OF) has always hit for a good avg. and had modest power, but what impressed people last season was his newfound speed. Prado is a good mid to late-round option if you need to fill a 3B spot. Starting pitcher Brandon McCarthy can be a good mid-draft pick if he stays healthy, something he doesn’t have a good track-record of doing. One of the big question marks in Arizona is Cody Ross (OF). If he can get a good amount of playing time, his skill against left-handed pitchers will pay off handsomely. Colorado Rockies: The Rockies didn’t make any notable moves this winter. SF Giants:  The World Series Champion Giants focused on retaining their core group of players and didn’t make any major acquisitions. Zack Greinke solid in final spring start, Rodriguez and Sellers make team

This hasn't been the greatest month for Zack Greinke leading up to the start of the 2013 season, but Saturday night was the most encouraging sight from him since he signed his mega contract in the winter. Greinke made his final spring training start on Saturday against Angels and fared pretty well. It was just his second start in the last 29 days, so it's understandable...

The Dodgers announced the cuts of eight players yesterday, moves that essentially set the Opening Day roster for the team. The club reassigned right-handers Kevin Gregg and Peter Moylan, utility man Alfredo Amezaga and catcher Matt Wallach to Minor League camp. In addition, the Dodgers optioned outfielder Alex Castellanos, right-hander Stephen Fife, utility man Elian Herrera and...

Dodgers close to record setting deal with Clayton Kershaw

After months of speculation of a long term extension getting done between the Dodgers and their ace Clayton Kershaw, it appears that the two sides are close to a record setting deal. The Dodgers have been working out a deal with the former Cy Young winner over the past several days according to Dylan Hernandez. It’s fair to assume that the deal could be announced sometime today...

Los Angeles Dodgers Prospect Rankings: Pre-Season 2013

Happy Easter! My Dodgers prospects pre-season rankings for 2013 are here, but it’s a bit of a short and sweet version. I was planning on re-starting Prospect Profiles again this year, but unfortunately, I got busy and ran out of time. :-( However, since I still have the information I’ve gathered through watching the games and what not, I think what I’ll do is just release scouting...

Dodgers’ Chad Billingsley ready to rejoin rotation

Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Chad Billingsley appeared in a minor league spring training contest yesterday, and he is ready to be part of the team’s rotation – potentially in the first week of the regular season – according to Eric Stephen of SB Nation. The Dodgers don’t need a fifth starter until the 11th game of the year, but Stephen notes that Billingsley...

The Dodgers start the season Monday at home against the World Series champion San Francisco Giants. Dodger Stadium opened in 1962. The massive makeover was done in five months and enlarged the locker rooms for both the Dodgers and the visiting...

Los Angeles Dodgers welcome you to yesterday; today

The light distortion not withstanding, the new hi-def scoreboards were amazing. “Remember when.” It is a common phrase we’ve all used before. Sometimes, you say it to recall the good old days at work before you got a new boss whose job seems to be making your life miserable. Or you could be a Kansas City Royals fans recalling when the word “playoffs” was part of the vocabulary...

10 Bold Predictions for 2013: Clayton Kershaw will be the next member of the $200M club

Clayton Kershaw is the best pitcher in major league baseball not named Justin Verlander.  He is also five years younger and is currently playing for the new biggest spenders in baseball, the LA Dodgers.  I don’t have to spout off Kershaw’s stats and accomplishments at such a young age.  If you’re reading this blog you probably know that Kershaw is one of the league’s...

2013 Baseball Preview: Los Angeles Dodgers

It has been a billion-dollar makeover. The Dodgers have emerged from bankruptcy and the dark days of the McCourt ownership transformed into one of...

Mattingly not fazed by 'lame duck' status

LOS ANGELES Its not a problem for me at all, Dodger manager Don Mattingly replied when asked about the fact that team management has decided for now not to give him a contract extension heading into the 2013 season. This is the final year of the deal he signed to replace Joe Torre after the legendary manager retired in 2010. On Monday against the World Champion San Francisco...
