Two Marlins slide into third base at same time

Your browser does not support iframes. The Miami Marlins were involved in a possibly unprecedented baserunning gaffe as two runners slid into the same base at the same time during Wednesday night's game in Washington. It happened in the top of the sixth inning with Marlins runners Logan Morrison on third and Donovan Solano on first. Marlins batter Adeiny Hechavarria hit a...

Logan Morrison bails on foul ball likely after fan calls him off (Video)

Your browser does not support iframes. The Miami Marlins lost another game on Wednesday night, which is nothing noteworthy. They have done that 82 times this season with 31 games remaining on their schedule, so we can expect to see a lot more of it. However, first baseman Logan Morrison did bring us one entertaining […]

Baserunning derpness: Logan Morrison, Donovan Solano both slide into third (video)

The past two seasons for the Miami Marlins — the first two in the team’s garish new ballpark — have been as a whole unmitigated disasters. The gamble to hire Ozzie Guillen in an effort to drum up interest ended up not paying off with the volatile skipper being fired after a terrible 69-93 season. […]The post Baserunning derpness: Logan Morrison, Donovan Solano both slide...

Miami Marlins: series preview at Braves

The teams will meet for three games at Turner Field beginning...

Marlins to push back phenom Jose Fernandez starts

ATLANTA (AP) -- Miami rookie Jose Fernandez probably has two more starts before he'll be shut down, and the Marlins are adjusting his schedule to make sure those are home games. Marlins manager Mike Redmond said Saturday the team will hold firm to a 170-innings limit for the phenom. He has thrown 158 2-3 innings. The right-hander is 10-6 and ranks third in the National League...

Marlins rookie phenom Jose Fernandez will be shut down after two more starts

The Marlins will shut down rookie right-hander Jose Fernandez after two more starts reports MLB.com's Joe Frisaro. Furthermore he will not be allowed to throw more than 12 total innings so unless Fernandez gets knocked out of a game early look for him to go six innings in each of the two remaining starts. Fernandez 21 has thrown 158 2/3 innings across 26 starts this season....

Two Marlins slide into a base

It's easy to take shots at the Marlins. The team is terrible, their owner is just mean, and the only thing that keeps them from providing the worst baseball in the league on a regular basis is the even-worse-off Houston Astros. But the Marlins actually pulled off a pretty good feat Wednesday night -- after getting themselves into a mess in the first place. Logan Morrison and...

Marlins forget rule of only one player to a base (GIF)

When you’re a Major League baseball team that has a 49-82 record after having sold off the majority of  your assets, you have to expect the occasional bit of baserunning goofery. In the 6th inning of Wednesday night’s Marlins-Nationals game, two Miami players—Logan Morrison and Donovan Solano—tried sliding into 3rd base at the same time, and the end result was a play that...

Watch two Marlin players slide into third base at the same time (VIDEO)

When you check out this odd play during Wednesday's Marlins-Nationals game, you might think you are seeing double. Don't call the optometrist just yet because it's only the Marlins' Logan Morrison and Donovan Solano both sliding into third base at the same time. Morrison found himself retreating to third base — just as Solano rounded second to join him at the...

GIF: Two Miami Marlins players sliding into third base at the same time

Tweet The Miami Marlins aren’t the worst team in baseball with a 49-82 record (that dubious honor belongs to the Houston Astros), but they are the most woefully hilarious team in Major League Baseball. Nothing sums up the Marlins’ season better than this play from their game on Wednesday night against the Washington Nationals: Yep, […]

Fernandez shines but Marlins fall to Braves 2-1

Mike Redmond usually appreciates the spark Jose Fernandez brings to the Miami Marlins. The manager found an exception: Watching his enthusiastic young star pitcher slide head-first into third base with a triple. Fernandez gave up only three hits in another strong start but couldn't overcome Freddie Freeman's two-run homer in the first inning, and the Marlins lost to the...

Marlins lose third straight, 9-0 to Nationals

The Miami Marlins failed to generate much offense again on Thursday night. It didn't matter all that much, either. Tom Koehler gave up two home runs and Adeiny Hechavarria had two of Miami's four hits in a 9-0 loss to the surging Washington Nationals. ''We did hit some balls hard, right at some guys I guess, if you're trying to find a couple positives, but really...

Teheran, Braves edge Fernandez and Marlins 2-1

Julio Teheran said he took the mound with one goal: ''Show everybody what I can do.'' Teheran showed he can beat Jose Fernandez, the Marlins' young star who ranks third in the majors with his 2.33 ERA. Freddie Freeman hit a two-run homer in the first inning, Teheran outpitched Fernandez in a matchup of young right-handers, and the Atlanta Braves beat Miami 2...

Jose Fernandez allows HR, Marlins stifled in Atlanta

ATLANTA (AP) -- Freddie Freeman hit a two-run homer in the first inning, Julio Teheran topped Jose Fernandez in a matchup of young right-handers, and the Atlanta Braves beat the Miami Marlins 2-1 Friday night for their fifth straight win. The 21-year-old Fernandez (10-6) took his first loss since July 7 but allowed only one hit after Freeman's homer. He gave up three hits in...

Marlins-Braves Preview

Jose Fernandez is a major contender for the NL Rookie of the Year Award, giving the Miami Marlins hope for a better future. Fellow rookie Julio Teheran is likely focused on a bigger prize for the NL East-leading Atlanta Braves. In what's expected to be one of his final starts of the season, Fernandez attempts to become the first Marlins rookie in 10 years to win six straight...
