The Jackie Robinson Family YMCA serves an ethnically diverse community of over a quarter of a million people in Southeastern San Diego. With a focus on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility; every day we extend our reach to people of all ages with a variety of needs and interests.
Our staff and volunteers are committed to making a real difference in the lives of those we serve, working together to offer a foundation to our community. With your sports, swimming and social services programs our staff are in line with the community needs and work to serve them all daily. When you get involved with the Y, you'll become a part of a community committed to help you learn new things and make new friends at any stage of your life.
Our programs emphasize the importance of honesty, caring, respect and responsibility, to fulfill our mission of helping people realize their fullest potential through the development of spirit, mind, and body. We do that by encouraging good health and fostering connections with new and old friends through sports, fun and shared interest.
18th Annual Tribute to Jackie Robinson & Scholarship Gala
Date: April 26, 2014
Place: Sheraton Harbor Island Resort
The Tribute to Jackie Robinson & Scholarship Gala was originally established to honor the 50th anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier in baseball. Since our first event in 1997, the Jackie Robinson Family YMCA has awarded over $225,000 to more than 150 students in Southeastern San Diego to help them pursue their dreams of higher education. And there's more. Through the generosity of our inspired patrons, close to $2,000,000 has been dedicated to program scholarship support for kids and families living in San Diego County's most critical community. This year we will honor and celebrate Jackie Robinson, Jerry Coleman and highlight 10 graduating seniors to be awarded with the Jackie Robinson Scholarship.
