Cody Ross was seen as a back-up outfielder who could become a starter and play center field, making the bench entirely right handed made him a less then perfect fit which is why I can't fault them when he went to Boston for 3M on a major league deal. Kosuke Fukudome is left handed and played over 100 games in center as recently as 2009, he wouldn't be an exciting signing but he might fit or needs and I'd hope he'd pick a minor league deal with the Mets over returning to Japan. The 34 y/o in four major league seasons has compiled a BA of .260 with an OBP .361, Slg. .399 and a .760 OPS.According to Ken Rosenthal he wants to stay in the majors but some believe he'll end up back in Japan...Fukudome, who had a combined .712 OPS last season for the Cubs and Indians, wants to remain in the majors, according to a source with knowledge of his thinking. Some executives, however, believe he may end up back in Japan. source Fox Sports

The Cody Ross Rumors and The Winter Of Met Fans’ Discontent

So this is what we’ve been reduced to, apparently. So starved for some good news on the acquisition front are we fans, that more than a few of us got excited at the prospect of acquiring a 31-year-old journeyman outfielder. Another right-hander hitter, I might add, so friendlier fences in right and right-center would do him no good. And then, he turned down some rare Wilponic...

Cody Ross To Boston

After the magic that was the 2010 postseason, the Giants and their fans can be forgiven for disappointment in Cody Ross‘s 2011 performance. Ross only managed 14 home runs and a .405 slugging percentage in 121 games in San Francisco after slugging .686 with five homers in 14 games during the Giants’ run to the 2010 World Series. Everybody knew the clock would eventually...

Boston Red Sox DFA Scott Atchison, Make Room for Cody Ross

The Red Sox have a full 40 man roster at this point, so with the addition of the newly signed Cody Ross, someone had to go. It will be right-handed reliever Scott Atchison. The 35 year old pitcher will now have to clear waivers to remain in the Red Sox employ. Atchison has been a solid though unspectacular pitcher in Boston these past two seasons and it would not be surprising if...

Sox shortstop situation is depressing

I don't mean to dampen your mood, what with all the Cody Ross excitement and all (we totally have another outfielder, everybody!), but the Scutaro trade has left us in a bit of a bind.  We knew going into this trade that we were essentially creating a large problem to chip away at another problem.  Although, we all expected the Sox to announce the signing of Roy Oswalt...

January 25, 2012: The Cody Ross Era Begins!

Holy Buckets! After so many years of stone-faced JD Drew, can I just tell you how nice it will be to have a passionate player manning right field? Yay! But can I just tell you how incredibly stupid I think it was for the Sox to trade Marco Scutaro, who would have made a measly $6 million dollars in 2012 to “free up payroll” Not only was he one of the most productive players...

Giants Fan Favorite Ross Joins Red Sox

Giants fan favorite Cody Ross is leaving for Beantown. The outfielder signed a one-year, $3 million contract with the Boston Red Sox on Monday. Ross will have to undergo a physical to make the deal final. The Giants decided not to re-sign Ross earlier this off season. Ross joined the Giants in 2010 right at the tail end of the team’s World Championship season. He was awarded...

Red Sox confirm signing former Giant, 2010 NLCS MVP Ross

The Boston Red Sox on Thursday confirmed the signing of outfielder Cody Ross to a one-year contract and said right-hander Scott Atchison was designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster.

Impact: Ross, Pierre, Lidge

Not all moves are of the big impact variety, but they still can hold fantasy relevance nonetheless. Whether they have a chance to contribute to 12-team mixed leagues or maybe deeper formats, these three players are worth keeping tabs on. Cody Ross: Signed by the Red Sox Ross has been mixed league relevant from time-to-time over his career. He has some power and can swipe a base...

SCOTT HAIRSTON MUCH BETTER VALUE SIGNING OVER CODY ROSS

With the word that Cody Ross has signed with the Boston Red Sox with the Mets in contention for his services, the question of the day is whom would you rather  have as your 4th outfielder, Cody Ross or Scott Hairston? Ross put a .240/.325/.405/.730 line last season with the Giants in 461 plate appearances. Hairston, stepped into the batter’s box, a sporadic 145 times to fill a...

Evidently the whole GM thing is harder than it looks

Al: Cody Ross! C'mon down, you're the next contestant on the Red Sox Price the Plight! Doug: Dudes, tell me we didn't just trade Scutaro for Cody Ross?!?! Mike: Hey, quit your *******.... what you're witnessing is a new, groundbreaking strategy coming to fruition — trade a perfectly...

Red Sox confirm signing of OF Cody Ross

The Boston Red Sox on Thursday confirmed the signing of outfielder Cody Ross to a one-year contract and said right-hander Scott Atchison was designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster.

Boston Robbed

Doug: Well, here's someone who thinks the Cody Ross signing was total friggin awesomeness— "5 Reasons Cody Ross Was a Masterful Addition for Right Field" Bill: Yeah, but who's the source? Ben Cherington's mom? Doug: Hey, how's that Roy Oswalt signing coming along? ...
