Found July 11, 2012 on Monkey with a Halo:

The July 11th, 2012 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim including the Angels (mostly) performed well in the All-Star Game, Halos to pursue Greinke via trade, Trumbo's stabilizing walk rate and much more...

The Story: The Angels mostly performed well in the All-Star Game.

The Monkey Says: I say mostly because Trumbo struck out in both of his at-bats.  Trout, however, got on base twice and stole a base while Weaver worked a shutout inning.  None of that helped prevent the AL from getting throttled by the NL thoug.  I was primarily impressed with Trout getting a hit off of R.A. Dickey even though I can't imagine Trout had ever seen a knuckleball before in his life.

The Story: If Zack Greinke becomes available, the Angels are expected to be serious bidders for him on the trade market.

The Monkey Says: I don't think this will work and will explain it great length why later today, but the one intriguing bit here is the source who states that Greinke believes the Halos are a "perfect fit" for him.  That could mean the Angels have a chance at trading for him and working out an extension before he becomes a free agent at the end of the year or maybe that the Angels could have the inside track on signing him once he does become a free agent even if they don't trade for him.

The Story: Mark Trumbo's improved walk rate has stabilized and should be here to stay.

The Monkey Says: There was some concern when his walk rate dipped down from a very strong April, but it didn't dip very far.  That, however, might be a bit misleading as his July rate of 6.4% is inflated by two intentional walks.  Take those out and he only walked 4.5%, which is still better than last season, but isn't very good.  I say the jury is still out though I remain highly optimistic.

The Story: Mike Trout was the first player to steal a base off of R.A. Dickey this season.

The Monkey Says: That's impressive, but it obviously comes with an asterisk as Dickey may not have been holding Trout on base as tightly as he normally would have what with it being a meaningless exhibition game and all.

The Story: Tim Salmon is a big believer in Mark Trumbo.

The Monkey Says: That is a nice endorsement, but it isn't as if Salmon is one to say anything negative about anyone.  I'm just glad that that he didn't hold a grudge out of jealousy that the two youngsters have already made an All-Star team, like he never did.

The Story: Mike Trout: the kid that saved the Angels.

The Monkey Says: That's an overstatement, but it fits in with the nice narrative that the media has been eager to push.  Lots of things helped turn the Halos around this year and Trout was definitely a big one of those things, but he isn't the sole reason.

Angels interested in Greinke?

If the Brewers decide to make Zack Greinke available before the trade deadline, the Angels might be one of the teams interested.

VIDEO: Mark Trumbo launches a Trumbomb over the scoreboard on his way to a third place finish at the Home Run Derby

Mark Trumbo didn't win it all at tonight's Home Run Derby, but he definitely put on a show.  There were Trumbombs a plenty, but the one that stood out amonst them all was his blast that landed on top of the big scoreboard in left field of Kauffman Stadium. [mlbam]22976685[/mlbam] It may not have been the longest dinger of the evening, but it was definitely one of the most...

Royals interested in bringing Zack Greinke back

The future of right handed pitcher Zack Greinke is still unknown. The Brewers would like to keep him long-term, but if they're unable to sign him to a multi-year contract and if the Brewers become seller, they will probably deal him. Yesterday, we learned that the Angels, Rangers, Orioles and Braves are among the teams interested in Greinke, and according to Jon Heyman of CBSSports...

By Christian Ilten - AngelsWin.com Contributor Trout, 20, leads the American League with a .341 (88-for-258) batting average and 26 steals for the Angels while Angels outfielder Mark Trumbo boasts a sick .306/.358/.608 slash line, with 22 Trumbombs and 57 runs batted in.  #44 made it to the second round tonight in the home run derby, his first of the slugger's bright...

Angels pursuing Greinke: fact or fiction?

STOP THE PRESSES!  According to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, the Angels fully intend to make a serious bid.  Seriously, for serious. That is what the report says, anyway.  The problem with the report is that it ignores some of the basic limitations of the Angels organziation which make this rumor a bit difficult to swallow. The report is at least half right in that I am sure the...

What Greinke or Hamels Would Yield in a Trade

With the Milwaukee Brewers and Philadelphia Phillies 6.0 and 10.0 games out, respectively, of the second wild-card spot in the National League, it’s probable that one or both teams will trade their front-line, free-agent-to-be starters — i.e. Zack Greinke and Cole Hamels — before the July 31st trade deadline. “What might either be worth in terms of a trade?” is a question...

Aoki, Greinke, Braun strong in first half

It's not exactly the way most would have assumed the NL Central would play out, but when the All-Star break arrived, last year's title-winning Brewers were eight games back and the eternally struggling Pirates stood alone in front. Of course, there's plenty of time left in the season, and even last year, Pittsburgh threatened to push the division contenders before falling...

David Ortiz Dishes Out Advice to Jose Bautista, Mark Trumbo While Wearing Camera During Home Run Derby (Video)

David Ortiz knows how to have a good time at the All-Star Game, and he's no slouch at the Home Run Derby, either. Big Papi wore a Looxcie camera during Monday's festivities for WEEI.com and the footage offers a first-person look at Jose Bautista putting on a show. It's no Being John Malkovich, but it's still pretty cool to see what Papi is seeing as he makes his way...
