Found April 18, 2012 on Monkey with a Halo:

The April 18th, 2012 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim including searching for reasons why Trumbo isn't playing much, Angels settle wheelchair access lawsuit, David Carpenter is eager to make a good impression and much more...

The Story: Angel fans and followers are wondering why Mark Trumbo hasn't been playing much lately.

The Monkey Says: I will tell you why, because Mike Scioscia has too many players to juggle in his lineup.  He is clearly trying to get everyone their fair share of playing time and Trumbo has gotten lost in the wash the last few days despite the fact that he is off to a hot start.  That doesn't make it right though.  At some point Mike Scioscia needs to quit worrying about if everyone is playing enough and just play the guys who are producing.  In case you haven't noticed, the Angels need all the runs they can get, so Sosh would be well advised to just go with the hot bat from here on out.

The Story: The Angels settled a lawsuit regarding wheelchair access.

The Monkey Says: Call me cold-hearted if you want, but I have little sympathy for handicap people who feel like they are being underserved in the luxury suites.

The Story: David Carpenter is eager to make a good early impression on the Angels.

The Monkey Says: And the Angels are looking for any middle reliever to make a good impression on them.  Seriously, Carpenter might be the teams best right-handed middle reliever already, and I don't mean that as a compliment to Carpenter.

The Story: The complete draft order for the 2012 MLB Amateur Draft has been released.

The Monkey Says: Thanks to their off-season signings, the Angels have forfeited their first two picks in the draft and thus will not make their first selection until the third round with the 114th overall pick.  Good luck with all that, new Angels front office.

Trumbo not angered by lack of playing time

It has become one of the questions surrounding the Angels as they've stumbled to a 4-7 start: Why isn't Mark Trumbo playing more? The young slugger led the team with 29 home runs and 87 RBI last season and finished second in the American League Rookie of the Year voting. However, he was displaced from first base by the signing of Albert Pujols. The plan was to get Trumbo...

Aybar signs extension with Angels

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- The agreement between the Angels and shortstop Erick Aybar on a contract extension can only be viewed in positive terms, both for the club and the player. By signing Aybar for four years and 35 million after earlier locking up second baseman Howie Kendrick long term, the team has now secured its middle infielders through the 2016 season. But shelling out big contracts...

Angels lack consistency, time to 'grind it out'

ANAHEIM, Calif. If there was a blueprint to the Angels' season, it looked nothing like this. The pitching was supposed to be dependable every night. The hitting was a sure thing. The defense was solid. But 12 games into the season, there isn't consistency in any area. The Angels lack energy and focus. Is it any wonder that manager Mike Scioscia addressed his concerns with...

Los Angeles Angels Prospect Report (4/17 Games)

By Brian Waller, AngelsWin.com Columnist Salt Lake Bees (8-4) The Bees continued their winning ways Tuesday night as they beat the 51’s 3-2 in front of 3,091 at Cashman Field. Brad Mills pitched 7.0 strong innings allowing only one earned run off four hits while walking three and striking out three. His 2012 ERA is a sparkling 1.38. I personally wouldn’t mind seeing...

What should Erick Aybar get in a contract extension?

If recent reports are to be believed, it is only a matter of time before the Angels lock up Erick Aybar to a lucrative contract extension.  Nothing is official yet, but reports are circling around a contract somewhere in the neighborhood of five years and $50 million for Aybar.  That seems to be what Aybar is asking for, anyway.  But is that what he should get? We could debate...

Santana remains winless, A's defeat Angels

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- Bartolo Colon threw 38 consecutive strikes at one point and pitched four-hit ball for eight innings to help the Oakland Athletics beat the cellar-dwelling Los Angeles Angels 6-0 on Wednesday night. Colon (3-1) struck out five and walked none, helping drop his former team six games behind two-time defending AL champion Texas in the AL West -- just 12 games...

Game Recap 4/17/12 -- Wow.....just...wow - Athletics 5 Angels 3

You know... I'm glad the game went the way it did in the 8th because maybe now Scioscia will stop putting so much undeserved trust into Kevin Jepsen. Jesus Christ the guy is garbage, he's always been bad and people think just because he put up a tolerable year in '10 that he's going to somehow find the potential that he doesn't have. Maybe Dipoto will be able...

MLB Update: Angels/Yankees No Match For Red Sox/Yankees; Ratings Flat For FOX Season Debut

Though it was a high-profile matchup in its own right, Sunday’s matchup between the Angels and Yankees was no match for Red Sox/Yankees a year earlier. The Angels/Yankees ‘Sunday Night Baseball’ game drew 2.830 million viewers on ESPN Sunday night, down 40% from Red Sox/Yankees on the second weekend of the season last year (4.697M), but up 32% from Cardinals/Brewers in 2010...

Angels 6, Athletics 0

Kendrys Morales hit his first homer in nearly two years and drove in four runs, and Jered Weaver recorded his 1,000th career strikeout while pitching five-hit ball into the seventh inning of the Los Angeles Angels' 6-0 victory over the Oakland Athletics on Monday night. Morales followed his three-run homer in the first inning with an eighth-inning double to score Albert Pujols...

Athletics-Angels Preview

The Los Angeles Angels returned home and recorded a much-needed win after a rough road trip. Now, they hope to get Dan Haren back on track. Haren will try to help the Angels win consecutive games for the first time this season Tuesday night against the Oakland Athletics. After going 2-4 at Minnesota and New York, Los Angeles (4-6) avoided a third consecutive home loss with a 6...

Was Chris Iannetta’s addition to the Angels smarter than Pujols’ addition

Much has been said about Albert Pujols‘ addition to the Angels, and everybody knows that it was a risky move for Angels owner, Arte Moreno. Because Pujols will eventually decline, if it hasn't started yet, and having a 40-year old player earning more than $20 million sounds like a bad business decision. The best they can hope for is that Pujols' decline doesn't start...
