ARLINGTON, Texas Josh Hamilton has had a sidekick during his run through the history books this week for the Texas Rangers. The same bat Hamilton used in his record-setting four-homer game Tuesday was the same one he was using heading into Sunday's series finale against the Los Angeles Angels. Hamilton is using the bat despite it already having an authentication sticker on it from the Hall of Fame on the knob of the bat. Hamilton said he's sticking with the bat as long as he can. He's used it for all of his homers since Tuesday's game except for one. The homer he hit off Tommy Hunter in Game 2 of Thursday's doubleheader was a different bat. That bat also has some history to it as Hamilton lost that one in the stands during Monday's game in Baltimore. Hamilton also homered in that game. Hamilton's jersey from Tuesday's game is bound for the Hall of Fame along with the cap he wore in that game. While the bat is stickered, it's only going to the...

Hamilton latest Rangers player to get on Twitter

ARLINGTON, Texas With a bit of reluctance Texas superstar Josh Hamilton is the latest member of the Rangers to set up a Twitter account. The @therealjoshhamilton launched not because Hamilton has embraced social media, but because he got fed up with fake accounts. "It would be good to have an official deal so fans can know it's actually a post from me or response from...

Hamilton uses pink bat instead of homer-heavy one

Josh Hamilton is going pink at the plate. Like most major leaguers on Mother's Day, the Texas Rangers slugger is using a pink bat Sunday night. He struck out swinging in the first inning in the series finale against the Los Angeles Angels. For Hamilton, that meant not using the bat with which he said he hit eight of his nine home runs the previous six games. That bat was authenticated...

A's McCarthy asks Siri for Hamilton advice

As Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton continues to annihilate the baseball at record-breaking rates, pitchers around the American League are scratching their heads trying to figure out a way to get Hamilton out. Oakland pitcher Brandon McCarthy, who's Athletics head to Arlington for a two-game series this week, went right past his pitching coaching and manager for advice...

Video: Josh Hamilton hits two more home runs in Rangers 10-3 win over Angels

Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton is good at baseball. Really good. Earlier this week he hit five home runs over a two-game span against the Baltimore Orioles, including four in one of the games. Evidently Hamilton decided to have mercy on Baltimore’s pitching staff as he only hit one more homer over the [...]

New Era Radio: Ups and Downs

It's been a rough week for Cacique's teams; Josh Hamilton has been the anti-Pujols this year. And Octomom's getting nekkid for money. Click here for the latest episode.

Historic Baseball Feats – By The Numbers

Last week, Josh Hamilton became the 16th player in Major League Baseball History to hit four home runs in a game.  Since the beginning of Major League Baseball there have been over 200,000 games played and over 13 million at-bats.  Hamilton did something that happened over 15 times before him.  That made me wonder, what is more rare than a four home run game. There are many special...

Fire Works: Hamilton, Darvish lead Rangers to series-opening win over Angels

ARLINGTON — Popular singer Adele says in a well-circulated song that she set fire to the rain. It would have been fitting if she could have sung the national anthem before the Texas Rangers’ game Friday night. Josh Hamilton hit two more homers, giving him eight in his last 18 at-bats, and Yu Darvish pitched solidly around a near two-hour rain delay as the Rangers remained...

Angels had no business challenging Hamilton

ARLINGTON, Texas The Los Angeles Angels decided to challenge the best hitter in baseball when they didn't have to. Already trailing by four runs in the fourth inning, Angels manager Mike Scioscia allowed his ace, Jered Weaver, to pitch to Josh Hamilton with one out and runners on second and third. Weaver may have thrown a no-hitter earlier this month, but he had just given...

Why Hamilton doesn't get Becket treatment

For all the uproar over Josh Beckett's ill-timed golf outing, Josh Hamilton's headfirst slide on a wet tarp in Baltimore last week was probably the more reckless act. Hamilton missed a series in Toronto from April 30 to May 2 with a sore back, yet received virtually no criticism for frolicking with his teammates in the rain just one week later. The difference? Hamilton...

Dugout Digest - Josh Hamilton is unstoppable

Josh Hamilton is a house of fire right now. He homered two more times last night against the Angels in a three hit game, and now has 17 homers on the season. He has nine homers this week. Again: nine homers this week, a five day period. Let me put it this way: in the last week, Hamilton has more homers than every player in baseball aside from the top nine. It's May 12th, and... MLB power rankings

By Eric Luchetti and Jase Bandelow 1 Rangers 23-13 1 Josh Hamilton is setting the American League on fire. The slugger just completed a week with nine home runs and 18 RBI for the top team in the AL West. 2 Orioles 22-14 1 Jim Johnson is automatic at the back end of the Os pen. The righty allowed his first run of the season against the Rangers last week and still...

Weaver hammered in loss to Rangers

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Nelson Cruz hit his third career grand slam, Josh Hamilton drove in three runs and the Texas Rangers beat the Los Angeles Angels 13-6 on Sunday night to hand Jered Weaver his first loss. The slam by Cruz capped a five-run third for the Rangers. Hamilton chased Weaver an inning later with a two-run double that made it 8-2. Weaver (5-1), in his second start...

RCL Roundup: May 14

Achilles (Tennessee Mash – RCL 25) had another good week and increased their lead in the overall standings. Josh Hamilton, Joey Votto, Jay Bruce, Ted Lilly, and Brandon Morrow were the key performers for the top team. Their relievers were also strong, allowing just 4 runs in 18 innings of work. Trini’s team (also with Hamilton), Psychic Friends Network (RCL 22), took over 2nd...

A little fun with numbers

Baseball is a game of numbers and statistics. And with the season still being on a bit of the short sample size variety, some strange things happen. Here is a short list of some oddities this season has so far shown us: Josh Hamilton has hit 17 homers. The Padres have hit 12 as a team. The Cubs have only hit 18 combined and the Twins have hit 19 as a team. The Padres have as many...
