The Sox took the first 2 series from the Jays, then lost the most recent 3-game series. The Sox got off to a great start in the series, taking the first game, 5-0, with Jon Lester improving to 5-0 at the time. That was the game that featured a complete game 1-hitter for Jon Lester. Oh, and 4 Sox batters recorded 2 hits in the game. Game 2 wasn't nearly as great. The Jays put up a run in each the 3rd and 4th innings. Boston tied it up at 2 in the 8th, but it didn't last, as Tazawa gave up the winning run to the Jays in the 9th. Game 3 was a 12-4 ass-kicking by the Jays. Ryan Dempster was tagged for 6 of those runs over 5 innings. All that was when the Blue Jays really sucked. This time Laser Show: David Ortiz & Dustin Pedroia Ortiz continues his consistency, going 7-for-13 with a homer and 3 RBI in his last 4 games. Plus, there is only 1 southpaw going in the series for Toronto. Pedroia has heated up in the last 3 games, going 8-for-13, with 4 RBI. All 4 RBI came on Tuesday, but it doesn't matter. You gotta feel good about those numbers. Pitch Around: Adam Lind & Edwin Encarnacion Obviously, only one hit for the team was recorded in game 1 of the last series, but the other two featured big games from each of these guys. Adam Lind went 3-for-4 with that game-winning homer against Tazawa in game 2. Throw in his .322 average with the threat of power and it is enough to be cautious. Encarnacion will not hit for average, but for power...a lot of it. He threw in his own 3-hit performance in game 3, with a 2-run homer. You know what, let's throw Jose Bautista in there too. He always seems to hit a homer against the Red Sox. Don't Fall Behind: Any starter It doesn't matter who it is, this is a crucial series. The Jays are getting very good and the division is tight, leaving no room for error. Their starters are not very good, but the Sox can't give them any room for comfort. The Sox rotation hasn't been much better (with the exception of Lackey), so there is absolutely no room for error against Jays pitching. How we see it goin' down The Jays are hot, very hot. They have won 12 of their last 14 and have jumped over .500. Yeah, every team in the AL East has a winning record. That's why there is no room for error. The Sox are going to have trouble with the hottest team in the majors and it might get ugly at times. With that said, I think the Sox are still capable of splitting the series with the Jays. I don't feel good enough about this series to go with 3 wins.
