Found June 05, 2013 on The Outside Corner:
Despite the Brewers beating the A's 4-3 in ten innings on Tuesday night, they're still 22-35 this season. They're coming off of a 6-22 month of May, tying the record for the worst month in franchise history. They're in last place in the NL Central, 15.5 games behind the division-leading Cardinals, who happen to have the best record in baseball. Their -53 run differential is second-worst in the NL, ahead of only Miami, and let's be honest, the Marlins aren't trying to be good this year. The Brewers are. Or at least, were. Doug Melvin is stopping short of saying the Brewers are punting 2013, but he is saying he's done trading prospects to win major league games for the time being. "If we make any more trades this year, it's going to be for two or three years from now instead of now. "I'm not going to be trading any young players to win games." Now, this might not seem like a big deal on the surface, but for the Brewers it is. ...

MLB Looks To Suspend A-Rod, Braun And Others

As I watched the Oakland/Milwaukee game last night, I watched as the Brewer`s right fielder Ryan Braun step up to the plate, look back at the umpire, and had a laugh. I couldn’t help but think to myself, boy this kid has no idea what is going to happen to his life in two weeks. By now you have probably heard the whisperings. The MLB is looking to suspend 20 of its players connected...

Brewers call up Thornburg, send Estrada to 15-day DL

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Brewers have placed right-hander Marco Estrada on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring. Despite his struggles in Triple-A this season, Tyler Thornburg has been recalled and will start Saturday in place of Estrada. Estrada strained his left hamstring in the fifth inning of Monday's 10-2 loss to Oakland and had to leave the game after...

Ryan Braun: Suspension would cast a dark shadow on Milwaukee Brewers

Over the past decade, it has been admirable the way that the Milwaukee Brewers achieved a balance between turning prospects into stars and adding veterans along the way to become competitive in the National League. Ryan Braun became the pinnacle of that success. He went from the fifth overall pick in the 2005 draft, to the National League MVP in 2011. Not only did he help lead the...

Brewers Tuesday: Estrada ailing

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Marco Estrada is unlikely to make his next scheduled start after straining his left hamstring in Monday's loss to Oakland. Estrada was moving better Tuesday afternoon, but he's not very confident he'll be able to take the ball Saturday against Philadelphia. "I don't know if this start's going to happen or not...

How Much Longer Will Ryan Braun Try to Bullsh$t Baseball Fans?

Ryan Braun wasn’t in the Milwaukee Brewers‘ lineup Wednesday afternoon but it wasn’t because of the “Outside the Lines” report that he may be facing a suspension for his connection to an anti-aging clinic at the heart of an ongoing performance-enhancing drug scandal, manager Ron Roenicke said.  Roenicke said Wednesday that the Brewers’ left fielder was out of his team’s...

Report: Alex Rodriguez and Ryan Braun among many facing suspension from MLB

Major League Baseball is planning to drop the hammer on the New York Yankees Alex Rodriguez and the Milwaukee Brewers’ Ryan Braun along with 20 other players with a connection to the Miami-based Biogensis Clinc, which is suspected of providing performance-enhancing drugs. According to a report from ESPN’s Outside the Lines, the owner of the clinic, Tony Bosch, has agreed to provide...

Be careful what you wish for, MLB

As much fun as Major League Baseball was last night, the games, the action and the excitement were overshadowed by ESPN's Outside the Lines scoop on the deal Major League Baseball has reached with the former owner of Biogenesis of America, Tony Bosch, to rat on his former customers. The zeal with which MLB has pursued this case has known no bounds and reminds me of the ax-wielding...

Brewers 4, Athletics 3(10)

Bartolo Colon Dazzles Again, A’s Take Finale with Brewers 6-1

The A’s secured a series win on Wednesday, taking the final game with the Milwaukee Brewers by the score of 6-1. Despite being in the headlines for the wrong reasons again, Bartolo Colon was at his best on Wednesday.  He surrendered a run in the bottom of the 1st, thanks to a Carlos Gomez RBI triple – but that was all he gave up. The score remained 1-0 until the 5th, when Seth...
