Imagine this:

Martial arts expert Bruce Lee delivering a wicked roundhouse kick to the chops of Guido the Italian Sausage. In super slow motion.

That’s the equivalent of what the San Francisco Giants’ PR department is doing to the Milwaukee Brewers’ PR department this year.

The Giants are honoring the late, great Lee by holding Bruce Lee Night at AT&T Park on Sept. 4. (In case you’re too young to remember Lee, or you’ve been living under a rock, he was only the most influential martial artist to ever walk the planet.)

Meanwhile, if you’re baseball fan in Milwaukee looking for a fun time at the yard, the best you can hope for is the 4th Annual Brewers Community Foundation 5K Famous Racing Sausages Run and Walk, on July 28.

Oh joy.

If running a 5K isn’t your cup of Milwaukee’s Best, according to Fox6now.com, the Brewers will also be pulling off the always-exciting “5-county, 5-day” celebration from April 17-21, where Wisconsinites can buy Brewers tickets at half-off.

How original.

Then there’s “Spring Madness” (May 21-23) when small sodas and hot dogs will be sold for a buck.

What a hoot!

Don’t get me wrong. I like the Racing Sausages. Always have. Since 1994, those fumbling, bumbling meat heads have been entertaining carnivores and vegans alike.

Obviously, the Washington Nationals’ PR department loves them some sausage, too, since they blatantly ripped off the idea with their Racing Presidents.

I’m just thankful the marketing gurus in San Francisco have a lot more imagination brewing in their blood.

Bruce Lee Night is just another in a long line of exceptionally creative promotional events that the San Francisco Giants have pulled off over the years.

Sure, the organization has scrapped the Giants Snuggie giveaway night after two straight years. But that just proves they know when to let a good thing go.

This year, texting gloves, fat heads, garden gnomes, super hero capes, snap watches, and bobbleheads (yes, even one depicting Lee, who was born in San Francisco before becoming a pop culture icon) will be among the clever promotional items given away at AT&T Park.

OK, Giants fans, it’s time for you to chime in. What’s your all-time favorite promotional giveaway or event? Comment below.

I hope you enjoyed reading "I’ll take Bruce Lee over The Racing Sausages any day." I'm interested in your opinion on this article. Why not leave a comment at 22gigantes.com?
