Found February 22, 2012 on Fox Sports:
Injured pitcher David Aardsma has agreed to a $500,000, one-year contract with the New York Yankees. The 30-year-old missed all of 2011. He started the season on the disabled list following surgery on the labrum of his left hip on Jan. 3 last year, felt arm soreness during a rehabilitation assignment at Triple-A Tacoma from April 19-29, then had elbow-ligament replacement surgery in July. ''He's someone with a lot of ability that we feel will be a benefit for us in the long run,'' New York general manager Brian Cashman said. ''Maybe it's more 2013, there's an outside chance in 2012.'' Selected by Colorado with the 22nd pick of the 2003 amateur draft, Aardsma is 13-15 with a 4.20 ERA in 254 relief appearances over six seasons. To clear a roster spot, the Yankees put left-hander Pedro Feliciano on the 60-day disabled list. Cashman said he talked with Aardsma throughout the offseason and the signing is not related to the possible retirem...

New York Yankees: Cashman you are losing it again

Image via Wikipedia Are the New York Yankees in need of another right-handed reliever? No, no…. the Yankees need a lefty to aid Boone Logan out of the bullpen, and even more so now that LHR Hideki Okajima failed his physical a few days ago. Well, not when your GM is named Brian Cashman who is on his quantity vs. quality crusade again hoping to look like a genius; when in actuality...

New York Yankees: Who likes criticizing Mo cause I do not

Image via Wikipedia Unfortunately it seems there’s always a first time for everything. Good or Bad. And criticizing New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera will be a first for me. FIRST, LET ME SAY HOW I FEEL ABOUT MO: Rivera is not only the greatest closer to ever play the game; he is the paramount of a role model for the way he handles himself both on and off the field. Baseball...

Eric Chavez You Look Hot In Yankees Pinstripes

Finally, the New York Yankees GM Brian Cashman resigned ex-Athletics hottie Eric Chavez. E. Chavez as an Oakland A Image via Wikipedia It is mind-boggling that this took so long, especially after reading a mid-January post on MLB Trade Rumors that there were a number of teams interested in him. This was not surprising because when Chavez is healthy he is as solid a player as anyone...

Audio: What Mo Actually Said About Retirement

It's been a long Winter and everyone connected with the Yankees in any capacity, including the media, has, I'm sure, been itching to get off asses and do something baseball-related. Mariano Rivera gave everyone that chance yesterday when he made his now-famous comments about his future (or, maybe not-so-future) retirement. My Twitter timeline exploded with tweets from beat...

Rivera has decided if this is final season

He has made similar comments in the past, dating back more than a decade, but now with the all-time saves record in hand, and his age finally matching his famous uniform number, New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera sounds a lot like someone who is about to play his last season.

Yankees Roll The Dice With David Aardsma

With their offseason shopping essentially complete, the Yankees splurged for one more reliever earlier this week, signing David Aardsma to a one-year contract with a club option for 2012. The terms are hilariously team friendly, as the right-hander will make just $500,000 in 2012 with another $500,000 in available incentives. The option is also worth $500,000 as well, and any incentives...

Is Rivera Retiring? Who Will Replace Him?

“Doesn’t depend on how I pitch. Always I want to do my job, but I’ve made my decision already,” Mariano Rivera told reporters the other day. He added that his decision has been made, “even if I save 90 games, even if they want to pay as much money as they want to.” It sounds like we saw the beginning of the “Mariano Rivera farewell tour,” which undoubtedly puts...

Robertson hopes Rivera pulls a Favre

TAMPA — Replacing a legend isn’t easy, but somebody has to do it. Just as Tino Martinez took over for Don Mattingly at first base in 1996 and Joe Girardi moved into the manager’s office in place of Joe Torre in 2008, somebody will have the unenviable task of succeeding Mariano Rivera as the Yankees’ next closer.

Yanks bullpen adds Aardsma

TAMPA — The Yankees added another closer to their roster Wednesday, but don’t expect Mariano Rivera to lose much sleep.

Moose: Mo will be more at ease after making decision

TAMPA — If Mariano Rivera has decided this is it, Mike Mussina says that could help his former teammate, even though the all-time saves leader hardly needs another advantage. Prior to the 2008 season Mussina decided he would retire at the end of the year. He told a few teammates, but...

Robertson knows those are big shoes to fill

TAMPA — A few minutes after David Robertson talked about what big shoes he will have to fill after Mariano Rivera retires, The Great Rivera laced up his size 11 turf shoes a couple lockers down from Robertson in the Yankees’ clubhouse. “These are big shoes to fill,’’ a smiling Rivera...
