Tomohiro Anraku may have a major league future, but he might also have Tommy John Surgery in the horizon. The 16-year-old Japanese high schooler threw a 232-pitch, 13-inning complete game on Tuesday in Japan’s high school baseball tournament, according to Baseball America. He followed that incredible 13-strikeout performance with a 159-pitch complete game on Saturday. He struck out eight and walked one. This isn’t unheard of in the Japanese high school game. Daisuke Matsuzaka once threw 413 pitches over a three-day span back in the same tournament in 1998. Anraku could wind up topping that performance as Anraku’s team has another game on Monday, and if they win, could wind up playing again on Tuesday or Wednesday. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound righty has a 94-mile-per-hour fastball. There is no word that he throws that vaunted “gyroball” that Matsuzaka was supposed to come to the US with.
